So, I just challenged Thrillhouse to a $100 donation thing: Hey, I ain't calling out nobodys income, but lets all throw something out and gives something as a community.

Lets set it up.

Our company did a double matching thing so I gave a pretty good chunk, but I think I could brown bag lunch it for a few days to give a bit more. Let me know how this is arranged and I'm in.

I just want it to be noted somewhere that someone has to read that a donation came from Obner- I giggle as I imagine someone pondering all of the acronyms...

This is a wonderful idea for people who have yet to give, and who are planning on giving. Let's not do the peer pressure thing here, and make people feel weird about not giving. Nobody knows everyone's financial situations.

Like I said, in another thread, I've given all I'm going to give for now. :)

I will match the $100 Yail pledged. I'm sending it through Busty, cos his company's gonna double our pleasure. Checks in the mail, and he can verify when he gets it.

Ditto. If I do give another donation, it'll be for the doggies and all the other pets out there. Good thinking, Dana. :D

I agree in principle, but rather than peer pressure I'd just like to suggest that if people can give up a luxury for one day (eating out, latte, beers, wait to buy that CD or DVD for a week), that money can be so valuable.

It's hard to imagine, but even a $5-10 donation makes a big difference when you start adding them up. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm about as far from NO as someone can be geographically in this country and I have spent hours and days thinking about what if it happened here (I know we don't have hurricanes, but a tsunami from an earthquake is quite possible as are volcanic eruptions) and I'd sure as hell appreciate anything anyone could give.

Charity is everyone's own business and nobody will say a word if people simply don't respond to the thread.

Actually Chris, as a guy who does this type of shit for a living, this is what I said:

since we don't really know that much about who has dat money or not, the best way to get good amounts of money is punking peopel out
saying that Z-grade krylon addicts like us are giving up our drug money for THEM, y'all pussies need to come up off

Somebody want to set up an Obner Relief Paypal account? Haq? I'll donate a small sum to the ORP in addition to the other donations I've made this week.

I don't quite know what you said, but I think it's a nice gesture on our part. I just don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable for not giving. Now if that's what you just said, then I agree.

And I guess I can go without buying one CD this week and donate something for this fund.

Given Something Awful's recent problems with Paypal, I would avoid that route.

I'm planning on (or have donated) a big box of clothes, as well as some food/canned goods...

I know that I'm lacking in the "giving actual money" department, but at least I'm doing something...

instead of NOT buying a CD this week, why not BUY a CD this week?

all the CD's found through this page are donating all proceeds to the Red Cross

Good idea, but I already gave all the $$$ this unemployed schmoe could afford.

What's the best group to give clothes to? We've got some stuff we wanna donate, but all the info's been about giving $$$.

Already gave to the Red Cross, but I'd be up for giving more in like 2 weeks when my whole paycheck isn't already accounted for.

going to be giving over $100 to second harvest, and possibly donating some food + to those that migrated to denver. plus my wife's theatre is donating all proceeds to its 09/19 show, incl. bar tab, to america's second harvest, plus they're raising as much $ as possible, up to $1200 so far. :)

Check local churches. One here is loading a truck to MS with diapers, handwipes, clothes and other things in addition to cash.

I just donated all my extra clothes to Salvation Army a few months ago, so I got nothin' in that dept.
