Dear "Mr." Polansky,

I give you points for creating a great atmosphere, but that's about it.

Worst Ending Ever,

Maybe Charles Manson had something to do with it...

I really liked this movie. Actually I like ALL of Polanski's films. He is genius.

What part didn't you understand?

It;s not a matter of understanding so much as a matter of it having a cheesebag, z-grade 70's TV horror movie ending. Up to the last 15 or 20 minutes it's a pretty good film. Then it isn't.

Cheesebag?

In this movie you have a man obsessed with money and screwing people out of rare books but in the end he finds that he's really just interested in unlocking a mystery and meeting the devil. Of course, in true Polanski style he refuses to show you "the goods" and expects you to use your imagination on what the encounter was like at the end.

Of course, I loved M Night Shyamalan's The Village too. What I've found is that some people get upset if they don't get to see the scary monsters. I guess not everyone enjoys a psychological thriller.

I said the end of the movie is cheesebag. The rest of it is really good.
