Is it too late to change the theme? Besides being in poor taste, it could also be dangerous because it gives the impression that the Prius doesn't emit carbon monoxide, which it does albeit less than a regular car.

The Only Ones: Why Don't You Kill Yourself?

and yeah, that's a crappy idea for a commercial--it'll never get shown.

I didn't say it wouldn't be funny, but I'm just trying to save them the trouble of getting sued by idiots who might get the wrong idea.

the Manic Street Preachers cover of 'Suicide is Painless (theme from M*A*S*H*)' is pretty great

Oh i forgot about that. Grafton bridge mentioned in the song (edit: both 'Suicide' and 'Suicide 2') is the old bridge that goes over the motorway. I cross it everyday going between the Medical campus and the City campus. They put up these big curved plastic anti suicide barriers now since it was such a popular spot.

Seriously, I've read how these things are made: they produce the clip using the ideal music to fit the mood. If they can't obtain the rights, they retro-engineer some knock-off music to approximate the tune, but with enough variation to prevent litigation. If you listen closely, you can make out what the commercial guys originally had in mind.

Having said that, I think Nick Cave circa-Let Love In would make excellent dark humor/suicide music. Thankfully, he'd never budge, I'm sure.

Brian Jonestown Massacre---That Girl Suicide

Anton could sure use the pub. The music would actually work well in a commercial background.

If you could actually use this one, it would really really work.

Yeah---it would fit nicely in a hybrid commercial.

Radiohead - Creep
Beck - Loser
Moby - what's that song with the video with the chick, and he's old...?
REM - Everybody Hurts

PS I love the idea, can't wait to see the commercial, hopefully they'll at least make it downloadable.

Tailpipe Blues - 13 Engines
Exhausted - Joseph Arthur
This Boy Is Exhausted - Wrens

Actually I visualize something more pop like The Police's "I Can't Stand Losing You" or The Cars "It's All I Can Do" or Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance" or Men At Work's "Blue For You"
