she's quite the character.

I've never been to a show like that. She's really um, "out there"...talks supppppppper slow during monologues and is funny, but just like "huh?" And her voice is just like, idk, took me by surprise I guess.

The two people who accompany her on stage are really skilled.

I'm never good at reviewing concerts, but while this one took me a minute to get into...once the paced picked up (3rd, 4th song) it was marvelous. She's going back to the East Coast in the coming weeks, and if she is in your area I really think you should go, just because it's "different" and interesting.

Plus, as is evident from her albums...her singing voice is freaking incredible.

I have come to accept the fact that no one will reply to my threads because they suck :(

I would've replied if I had something to comment about other than..."Don't much care for Lhasa, but glad you had a good time."

I thought the Living Road was the best new release last year. Saw her do an instore at Amoeba and thought she was great.

Wish she'd do a regular club gig in LA. I'd go.

np: Serge Gainsbourg "Gainsbourg Percussions"

Yeah, she tells really interesting stories...and when she describes the meanings of her songs, the music starts to make a bit more sense to me (since I only speak English)...anyway, it was a great show.

Cool! Thanks for the rec. I always enjoy 'different'. Marked my calendar (she's actually coming to someplace local on Feb 7).

Saw her tonight and she was phenom! And you're right, those two people with her are really skilled.

Didn't do the math, but I think she did like two 90 minute sets.

RIYL Calexico -- skilled acoustic instrumentalists doing a combination of different world influences inc. French Mex Portugese and so on ... and yet still indie pop songs.

I liked her stories -- she could easily do a Storytellers, I would love to see that. The one she did about her father's philosophy before "Soon This Space Will Be Too Small" made me cry, it was that beautiful.

Highly recommended to anyone who likes music.

Better than most.* She's trilingual.

* That's better than most native English-speaking peoples.

Yeah, but did you see the part about where she's touring again? I figured it was better to just bump this thread than to start a new one and link back to this one...because no-one clicks on links.
