Maybe if you define esl/tesol/etc I'll tell you if I am or not.

Yes, I've my TESOL certification. Take the online course and get it over with. You'll probably total 40 hours study time. Depending where you teach/write, you can earn up to $500-2000 more each month. In other words, it's worth it. I designed TOEIC/TOEFL exams for Japanese expats @ NEC for nearly five years & it helped me immensely.

Where are you looking to teach/write & with what organization?

havent gotten too far on the research end of things as far as which org to go thru, but in terms of destination, south america is first on the list. probably brazil, peru, argentina, maybe chile.
then on to europe for a bit.
the thing is, this isnt something that's a definite, but it seems like if i went ahead and got certified it would certainly be a good thing to have in terms of planning for 6 months down the road and wanting to be able to have something to fall back on - should my dream of working on a vineyard in tuscany & squishing grapes with my feet not work out.
i've definitely considered doing this for some time, now, and before i feel like i've let one day too many slip by, i'd really like to start making some real headway into getting my shit together b/c i'm planning to get moving after next summer...

Savvy. Give us a PM if you need advice or a 'heads up' on the whole ESL tip. If it matters, I know people who think they're important in this industry, both in Brazil & SE Asia (Berlitz). And, of course, Nippon.

Just yodel.
