I'm interested after reading the following and wondered if any of you have a song or two that can sent my way so that I can check out.

Quote:
When Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia first met at Bamako, Mali's Institute for the Young Blind in 1977 it was the start of a long and fruitful partnership and journey. Along the way AMADOU & MARIAM has become one the biggest selling afropop artists across West Africa and Europe, and this year saw the release of "Sunday In Bamako" produced by and featuring the celebrated Manu Chao. The record went gold in France and won a Les Victories de la Musique award (basically a French Grammy), and is now making it's way stateside. Utilizing a rich texture of influences, from the traditional music of Mali and African pop to blues, reggae, and Cuban son music, Amadou & Mariam's music is really something special.

I have their latest. It's good but nothing amazing, and I say that as a huge Manu Chao fan.

Here's a link to an overly kind review:

I don't know if this is driving the timing of your post, but they are playing the Knitting Factory on Monday. I'm out of town so I can't post an mp3 until after I get back to Cali on tuesday but if you are still interested then I'll ysi a tune or two.

Thanks, Billy! Actually, it was from the Knitting Factory's newsletter that I learned about 'em. Unfortunately, I"ve other plans on the 12th and won't be able to go.

Am definitely interested in checkin' out those YSI's when you're ready.

I'd buy this on name alone.

It's the inverse of my antipathy to Goblin Cock.
