Dude, didnt Tyrone start off pretty strong his first year? You guys will get your beating eventually.

Though, to be honest, even though I am no fan of Notre Dame, I also strongly dislike all of the teams that they play (USC, Michigan Perdue, etc) so GO IRISH!!!

I can't believe that's that same defence that got taken apart last year by Orton, Leinart & numerous others. They made Henne look horrible. Big victory for the Irish. I'm stoked

Honestly, I think Michigan was just grossly overrated coming into the season. Not to downplay the whipping that ND just layed but Jesus! that was some damned unimpressive offensive work.

I was drifting off to cooking shows, Ghostbusters, Brewster's Millions and some 1-AA chickenshit game.....

I'm straight for Rachel Weisz, but not quite gay enough for Bruce Weitz.

im a big pats fan, and the pats coaching staff were like gods (ok, i prayed to belichick every day), so i hope charlie weis can get notre dame turned around and romeo crennel can get the browns turned around too. doesnt mean im gonna start supporting them, i just wish them the best. its gonna take a few years to get notre dame good again, so i wouldnt go expecting anything miraculous from them anytime soon. unless ty willingham recruited some really good players the past few years, and i doubt that.

Yeah, I agree that it's more a matter of Michigan being overrated than ND being some sort of dominant force all of a sudden. Early in the game, they showed that Michigan has given up well over 400 yards on defense for the past six or seven games (many over 500), including Northern Illinois last week. Pitt's loss to Ohio last night even furthers the argument that ND will soon be exposed as a paper tiger, but I will enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts!!!

Speaking of Pitt, I've said it before and I'll say it again (and the likes of both Spade Kitty and elephantstone will back me up on this):

Dave Wannstedt is the worst head football coach in the history of the sport. Makes Gerry Faust look like fucking Vince Lombardi.

No doubt & Pitt is probably overrated too. But all those knocked down passes by the D-line, nicely defended passes by the DB's & great open field tackling is something we didn't see enough of last year. I went to the Purdue game last year & thought I had just seen Orton take the lead in the Heisman race. Todays performance overall by the Irish wouldn't have beaten USC or Purdue last year, but it's an improvement.

word.I totally agree, Damen. I think Weiss has brought in some execution.

its just baffling to me that teams like Michigan think that they can still get away with playing this vanilla shit on offense when College defenses are obviously becoming more sophisiticated and NFL like. College ball (defensively) to me evolving to the point where I might actually start enjoying it again

Some of you may be surprised to know this, but coaching even high school defense (as I do), is much closer to engineering than you would ever think. It's by far the most difficult part of any of my jobs. When I was in high school we played a 5-2 with cover 3 no matter who we played. Do that today and you will get you tail handed to you by some much inferior teams athletically.

Exactly my point. (though I havent seen it as much on the HS level)----fucking Football has gotten really complicated with all these all these multi-shift offenses and multi-front D's.....

Its fucking fascinating as shit to me though I (admitedly) dont always understand exactly what it is that I'm watching.

Oregon football update

beavs barely pull it out against boise state. it could be a really long season although Mike Hass is unbelievable.

ducks roll against Montana (div 1-aa)

my d-3 alma mater, Linfield College, rolls in its opener by about 40 - 1st step on the national championship road and a 50th consecutive winning season.

ND has a brutal sched though. Must be the toughest in the nation. They will end up 6-5 or so and make the Notre Dame bowl (on ABC!).

Heres hoping they come into the USC game @ 5-0 though, and whip them. Only to lose 5 straight after that.

I've always blamed the Eagles' Super Bowl loss on Charlie Weis. The Eagles pretty much controlled the first half. But at the half, Weis made some really smart adjustments on offense, and it basically took the Eagles D all of the third quarter to figure it out. Of course, by then the Pats had scored enough to win the game.
