I have no idea why I managed to go nearly two weeks without announcing to the few of you who knew/cared/were paying attention, but I'm sure being busy and tired probably had something to do with my confusion, so please forgive me . . . uh, where was I again? Oh, yeah: it's a girl! My wife gave birth to our absolutely beautiful daughter Amanda Grace on Monday, August 29 at 2:53. She was 7 lbs, 9 oz., 20.25" long (why do they measure babies, anyway?) and just freaking cute as hell:

And now I have to go back to work after two weeks off taking care of her and my wife. Boo. I never thought I'd say that having a baby blow a big wad of chunky mustard-yellow crap through the one little opening in her diaper across my leg would be preferable to sitting behind a desk doing really boring design work, but there you go: it is.

But when will she be of advanced size enough to not fall thru the hole in the Nature's Platform squat-toilet add-on?

That is the real question.

What's the standard starter-age on that thing?

Oh. Yeah. And felicitations, Mot, no hoople turned Dad.

And, Shiv, your signature is super inappropriate in this thread. "Eddie Basden's" would be as well.

Thanks everyone! My wife swears she's mine, but I'm not sure - she's far cuter than my genes should make possible. But maybe mother nature's just looking out for her best interests, and decided to skip entirely over my set of genes.

Yeah, she is a cutie---especially for a newborn dude, congrats.

Love the name Grace, too. Its my grandmas name and I'd like to incorporate it myself one day.

(should I be lucky enough to produce any of them progeny things)

I've said this before but I don't like kids until they are big enough to send on errands to the corner shop but I'm glad your enjoying yourself.

Congratulations!

I'm looking forward to assigning chores like litterbox-cleaning, garbage removal, lawn-mowing, etc. I guess those might be better suited to a boy, but you have to work with what nature gave ya. It does, however, require a few years of training before you really get the payoff in your investment.

I've been up almost all freakin' night! Eight hours of work on slightly over two hours sleep (due to Amanda being awake half the night) after two weeks off is going to be quite an adventure. Not to mention the long, slow drive to and from . . . Of course, now she and my wife are sound asleep and have been for a couple of hours. Me? I'm wide awake and hanging out on Obner at 5:20 am.

Congratulations! I'm glad to hear you two gave her a normal name. Nothing pisses me off more than hearing a child named Nevada, Icebitch, Roosevelt, or some other nonsense bullshit.
