Thesaurus Musicus

He's the guy who wrote the tune for My Country Tis Of Thee. I sang it at church today.

I used to work for the commonwealth accountancy examination board and we had a lot of African students with great names.

My all time favourite is Cleopatra Tonton Zola Makoko N'Kalongo, but I think Cyril Zulu and Augustine Okah-Daddi both deserve mentions.

And of course there's my former bank customer Mr Zzz.

EDIT: There's a member of the Scottish Parliament called Bristow Muldoon which is also a fantastic name.

I might be wrong, but isn't Thesaurus Musicus a compendium of early music with lots of entries uncredited?

Still, it is a good name. If someone with a shitty name like, say, Badly Drawn Boy wanted a new moniker, he might want to consider it.

I'd say you are spot on on both points. Except maybe the second one- dude does actually appear to be a badly drawn boy.

I think there are certain names you can give to your child that guarantees they will become a realtor.

Also, there's a guy near here named Ed Harraway, who goes by "Special Ed". No lie.

well i meant names in music. i'm pretty sure that when i saw the name, there were birth and death years next to it, so i thought it was a guy. though i just went and check the hymnal and all it says is London, 1774

Reminds me of the Stoner who ran for office in South Milwaukee a few years back. Mysteriously, all his yard signs were being stolen from his supports's yards... But not by a rival candidate's black ops. No, no - the local high-school students were taking them and putting them on their lockers.

Put (a) Stoner on Common Council

A realtor here in Phoenix is named Gary Swallows. I see his ads most often at the movie theater in their "pre-show entertainment" slide-show of ads. There's almost always someone who makes a comment.

The Driver's Ed teacher at my high school was named Richard (Dick) Weed.

I get a chuckle everytime I hear the name of former CNN and current WXIA weather stooge Flip Spiceland.

I had a counselor in 1st year of college named Kenneth Rape. Holy shit, talk about youthful trauma that must have had. He was just starting his own family at the time, and was in the process of changing it to Ray.

I would think that this would deserve its own thread, but the silly name thread also seems apropos for it.

I saw this in the ONION classifieds this week - but no, not in the adult listings for phone sex and/or "massage". I mean, it was the employment listing where I beheld the gem.

The copy:

Have a Nice Day Cafe*
Cafe Milwaukee Is Now Hiring
For the Following Positions:
BARTENDERS,
SECURITY, BARBACKS,
SHOT & TUB GIRLS
Apply in Person
Monday Sept 12th - Wednesday Sept 14th
From 1pm-6pm at 1101 Old World 3rd Street
Or Call (414) 270-9650
www.CafeMilwaukee.com

[/copy]

Now, I wouldn't imagine that a tub-girl would even be legal at a MKE strip-club - where the ladies have to keep the bottom on, and cover the nip-nips (not necessarily with pasties; most use adhesive plastic bandaging, in fact) - let alone a bar. But maybe...

*Also, Thursdays, beginning Sept 15th, will be "Real World Nites" hosted by Germantown's Melinda (of RW: Austin).

[monty](And maybe, if tub-girling is now legal in these parts, it will be ok to have a little tamer, but still hottt, action with Melinda and Julie (RW: New Orleans) doing some woman-on-woman play.)[/monty]
