FEMA Chief Brown Resigns
Monday, September 12, 2005

WASHINGTON — Federal Emergency Management Agency (search) director Mike Brown said Monday he has resigned "in the best interest of the agency and best interest of the president," three days after losing his on-site command of the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

"The focus has got to be on FEMA, what the people are trying to do down there," Brown told The Associated Press.

Brown came under fire over the federal response to Hurricane Katrina. He was called back to Washington last week and replaced as the head of the on-site federal relief and recovery effort.

About god damn time.

sounds like brownie has more sense than junior. . . my guess is that from a pr standpoint bush would have never straight-up fired him because it was prove his cronyism (is that a word?).

as much as i hate to say it--and though i hope it really hits the adminstration hard--he has time and time again put on the blinders, stayed "on message", and the american public has never failed to forget the myriad of mistakes, gross errors in judgement, and plain stupidity that has been one of the trademarks of his crew's five years in the capitol.

Resigning avoids him a dismissal. Cushy Gov't Job II to follow.
