the scene in the movie Witness where Harrison Ford gets the car radio to work and is awkwardly dancing around serenading Kelly McGillis with Sam Cooke's Wonderful World?

I love Han Sol, but it's one of his more embarassing moments on film. I mean you laugh out loud at him.

Isn't that part of the charm of the scene? He's awkward. He's NOT Han Solo the ever cool adventurer. He's just a cop doing his best to try and get into this Amish woman's pants..er dress.

Polk, that is not our way!

I remember seeing an ad that the farm where the movie was filmed was going to be available for tours through november or something as part of the 20th aniversary of the movie. Maybe I should go see it. Then again, I probably won't.

Absolutely, and in his greatest role as a mysterious (and perhaps jealous) Pennsylvania Dutch farmer.

Yup. He also made a valiant, but sadly failed, attempt to kill Gwyneth Paltrow in that bad sorta Dial M For Murder remake.

Heh. Viggo one week older than Simon LeBon.

Meaning three cycles away from half a century, as of next month.

I spent time in Ohio Amish country this summer and I thought about that scene.

Amish observations:
- the most kickass cheese I've ever had

- anything goes with the shoes; the teenage girls all wear really complicated and flashy cross-trainers

- they are capable of banking serious cash; some own bigass vans and hire drivers to take them to Florida ever year - where I guess they hang out with other Amish

- love the board games; during a tour I saw a well-worn "Frogger" board game among a teenage boy's stuff
