For me it's still the best album of last year and hasn't faded at all. I was struggling toward the end of last year to find my favorite album. Albums always hit me over the head and announce that it's my favorite for that year. In 2004 it was a different story as nothing really grabbed me and it was December already. I knew about the hype but didn't get around to listening to it until much later in that year. I remember sitting at my computer, stopping what I was doing and just listen to it. When it came around to the song "Wake Up" it gave me chills on the back of my neck. Of course I kept listening to it and listening to it but never play albums back to back. The one thing that struck me in the early going was that this album really makes the most sense when you hear it from start to finish.

I'm pretty much convinced that this album is one of those once in a life time albums. Albums like this is what drives my passion for music. Sometimes I feel that I should grow up and not pour so much of myself into it. This album just happens to be the kind of music I like best, those overly emotional ones. If music continues to be this good than I won't ever leave it.

Interestingly enough I starting listening to my second favorite album of last year, the Fiery Furnaces Blueberry Boat right after I fully absorbed the Arcade Fire. That album has held up extremely well as well.

I haven't pulled it out in a while. Kinda feels like a Fall/Winter album to me. I still like Rebellion(Lies) and Haiti. I'll probably pull it out once the weather cools off a little more.

The only discs that I still pull out from last year with any regularity are:

Black Keys - rubber factory
Ike Reilly - Sparkle in the Finish
DBT - Dirty South
Pinback - Summer in Abbadon
AC Newman - Slow Wonder
Eagles of Death Metal
Razorlight - Up all Night
Mark Lanegan

When going to commercial from a NFL game this past Sunday (Panthers/Saints, I believe), they played a short clip of an Arcade Fire song. I haven't listened to the album in probably 5 months, but I did enjoy it last time I heard it.

Seeing them live at the end of the month, my first foray back into live music since the late 90s.

I haven't listened to it for awhile either and agree with Derris that it's a fall/winter album. Seeing as it was only a few degrees above zero this morning, I should throw it on.

That was pretty funny, I couldn't imagine Radcliffe commenting on Arcade Fire so that made a lot more sense.

The high-five symbolized concord in our opinion. That's all.

It's not anywhere near as obtuse as the typical Monty post.

Am I the only one that got bored with it pretty quickly? Don't get me wrong - it was decent, but it just didn't move me much at all after a few listens. In no way did I get a "classic must-have album" feeling out of it. I traded it 5 or 6 months ago and haven't missed it in the slightest.
