No. They'll probably just end up over that cliff, shortly before you do.

i went so far as to not invite anyone with a goddamned kid. they're going to have to have a premie to pull this shit. why would anyone bring a fucking baby to a wedding? anyone who pulls this should be dragged out into the street and shot like a rabid dog.

People just don't think. It's not rational. They get so numb to the crying, screaming... they don't hear it anymore. But you sure as hell do.

oh that's infuriating. that's possibly the most inconsiderate thing that i've ever heard. i wonder which is more, my satisfaction or my fiancee's displeasure with me stopping the ceremony to "dress down" someone for violating my self-written rules of decorum. i'm going to need a drink.

Not everyone with kids is like that.... my sister specifically left her two boys at home because she wanted to chill out and have some wine too-- and not have to worry about her kids. I didn't have to tell her that.

Actually, the only kids that came to our wedding were on my husband's side of the family, and only because they had traveled from out of town and didn't have anyone they could leave them with at home.

It happens everywhere, not just weddings. Resturaunts with a family at a table, and a howling 1 or 2 year old, and the mom just nibbles away at the fried cod, like nothings going on. Clothing stores, same deal... kids are racing around the store like Loog had set them on fire to make himself feel better, screaming their guts out, and mom's 25 feet away trying to decide between Pima cotton or Egyptian cotton.

they'll act as a safety cushion. a frail pink safety cushion.

are there gonna be secret rules? i get the feeling crack's gonna have "enforcers" roaming the reception to get rid of babies, NA beer and ayah.

it happened at mine..
5 or so uninvited guests showed up.
The reception hall said it happend all the time and just added the extra plate settings.
Of course, we did have to pay for the extra settings...which sucked.

The biggest problem at my wedding was motherfuckers RSVPing and then not showing up. That's money you spend on the food that no one eats. We almost wrote a few bastids off because of that.

Yep, as many showed w/out as didn't show at all, we had about 45 total guests. Basically no shows=non-RSVPs

And for lack of RSVP, the unconfirmed get stuck eating the plate pre-selected by the non-attending RSVP... So, Jews get stuck with non-Kosher meals; vegetarians end up with chicken kiev; vegans get roast lamb....

I find that a fitting "punishment" for the tactlessness and other ill-manner.

Ms. Manners would be proud.

Man. The vehemence you people have shown about kids at a wedding is fucking shocking. I specifically said before my wedding that I do not like people who specifically disinvite kids from a wedding. I invited kids to mine and it was a blast. Fuck you, child hating bastards.

Dude, you're having a wedding... It goes without saying it's a serious waste of money. Of course people are going to be inconsiderate bastards. You're probably doing the wedding thing to appease the future mrs and make family happy. So what you have some dumbass friends and family that don't rsvp or rsvp and don't show up. Drink a beer, smile, don't be one of those people who smear cake on the face, and relax. If you have an open bar, or for that matter a cash bar and over 100 folks who usually don't drink, it will eventually get ugly anyway. Ignore the chaos. You didn't cause it. You're not paying for it. You just need to get though it.

I am curious tho... what are the song selections? .... hubby and wife, wife and dad, and son and mom... You're having a big wedding, don't tell me this isn't waaaay planned out. Which is fine and good, but we want you to share the video of you dancing to the Top Gun soundtrack of "Take my Breath Away"

/why me and mrs schadenfreude had a court house wedding 1000 miles from our family while on vacation 13+ years ago.

we invited ~170 but rhode island is kind of far so we're shooting for ~130, and it looks like we may be on pace for that.

the thing about the babies is that i can't imagine the rationalizing that goes through someone's head to say "yeah i know that this little shitstained consequence is going to scream his head off during what should be a pretty special moment, but oh what the fuck i'm going to make the whole thing about me anyway so let's bring it on". in particular from people that i don't even like, and even more in particular when i didn't invte that thing anyway.

I completely understand regarding the ceremony, the reception is easier since they will likely be drowned out, or mesmerized by the crowd. Just stick the couples with children in a corner away from the "star tables." For out of towners and those with infants, it is usually difficult to line up baby sitters.

Sometimes it can be quite spontaneous. For instance, my 3 year old nephew sang the national anthem over the PA before the band started the dancing tunes. It riled everyone into a dance frenzy thereafter.
