I completely understand regarding the ceremony, the reception is easier since they will ikely be drowned out, or mesmerized by the crowd. Just stick the couples with children in a corner away from the "star tables." For out of towners and those with infants, it is usually difficult to line up baby sitters.
oh yeah i'm totally open to it at the reception; the rest of us were raised at happy hour so why should these glorified purses get spared that rod from the first breath? but the ceremony...that's her time and i'm going to flip out if anything spoils it. honestly i'll probably flip out internally but later, as we're not leaving for our honeymoon for a few months instead of that night, i'll probably have some thoughts to share.

We made it clear at our wedding-No kids! I don't feel guilty about it at all. We had been at too many weddings where in the middle of the ceremony siblings start fighting or a kid yells out "this is boring!" (which I admit was kinda funny, but still). Loads of other crap too.

We didn't want kids making the reception their own personal playground-running around everywhere and sticking their booger pickin' fingers in the wedding cake.

And for those of you that are sayin'- my kids don't act like that - I know! Many kids are very well behaved because their parents are doing their job.

If there was some way to politely only give the thumbs up to those kids we'd have done so, but you know you can't do that.

Steve

i should buy a small crane and dangle that cage over the cliff and threaten to drop the kids onto the rocks and crashing waves below. it'll be like a mad max pinata.
