The only SFA song I've heard is Golden Retriever, which I liked. (I think that was them.) Yes, I am pitiful.

Is this indicitive of their sound? What album should I pick up first?

Pick up Guerilla first.

Others will say different, but ignore them, and keep your eyes on the prize.

There's no one album that's too indicative of their sound. They're starting to mellow out, but the earlier stuff was very hectic. I'd also go with Guerrilla, as it just happens to be one of my favorite albums of all time. Most will tell you Radiator, though.

Radiator. I actually picked up Guerrilla first, but I think it would have been a bit easier to get into them through Radiator.

That being said, they are both kick-ass records, and it really doesn't matter too much either way. Definitely Radiator or Guerrilla, though. Then depending on which you like more, go up or down from there.

Radiator is the place to start.

The first thing I ever bought was God! Show Me Magic and thought, this might be the start of something very special. Had no idea that they would become the band they are today.

Radiator is the one.
Although you really cannot go wrong.
And there is no "defining" song, per se... but maybe I would go with "The Man Don't Give a Fuck" since they seem to close every show with it.

SFA are overrated in what regard? They're underrated.
