<------has been living with the lady for 3.5 years.

basically at this point the only reason to get married is for money reasons. i'm the direct product of 2 broken marriages and have seen enough of them fall apart that i don't really give a shit about the whole thing. I love my girl, and fully intent to spend the rest of my life with her (or the rest of her life with her, whatever the case may be), but that isn't to say things don't happen. i don't believe in god or children, so the whole thing is kinda moot anyway, right? I know you think i'm being selfish and depriving her of this special day, blah blah blah but she's not exactly in a rush either. i'm sure I'll get marred sooner than later, but right now i'm more married than most of the married people I know, so what the fuck.

Bumbumdabum.....NO ONE GETS OVER ON MONEY WITH A KRAUTH, DAMNIT!!

Crack, what's great is when your girl makes more money than you, yet you pay for all the expensive shit, and ol girl "gets lunch," or "bought a bottle of wine for tonite."

Shit should get better with her moving to Montgomery, getting a company car, etc...but you shoulda seen her face/heard the excitement in her voice when I mentioned I'm gonna buy a new ride. I think she sees it as US getting a new car. I don't really care, but I also couldn't give afuck less about what kinda car I drive, while she pushes a C-Class. I think our tastes diverge a bit.

I've been with "Mrs. Dawg" for 14 years next month, & we've been "living together" for a dozen years.

Always kept the finances seperate, & never had the desire to get married.

And I don't think it's a coincidence that things are fine.

May I suggest something along these lines...

We set up our finances in a way nobody has mentioned yet. We have three accounts: mine, hers, and a common one (the checking account.) We both direct like fifty to a hundred bucks from each paycheck into our personal account, and the rest goes to the common acct. The common account pays the bills, insurance, etc... Anything personal or large we buy for ourselves from our personal accounts.

Over the years it has worked really well - if for some reason we're short on the morgage or have an unexpected major expense, we have our personal accounts to fall back on.

That's probably the way I'd go, too.

I recommend: talk to her about it now. Don't wait until it festers and becomes a sore subject and you get angry. Talk to her now while it is only an "issue".

This actually sounds like a really good plan. Not for me, but in general.

so we brought it up after a fight at a shitty bar when we went to the decent bar. there were tears, as usual i powered through them, and i'm not sure if we settled it or not. i did drink a good number of magic hat jinx so that was worthwhile. i think that i'm going to go with the Max way.

granted i make a lot more than she does, and granted i knew that this was coming, but seriously what logic goes through her head to think that MAYBE if she doesn't mention the rent that i'll be so impressed by her new shoes/jeans/dress/tank tops that i'll just go ahead and pay it for fun? i mean really?

There is a word somewhere in your post that shouldn't be used in the same sentence as "woman, female, girl or any variation thereof"
