I bet having your gallbladder taken out hurt like hell. I have only had three operations, one was supposedly exactly like a C-section (so i'm prepared for child birth if I have to get one of those!) but nothing i've had sounds nearly as bad as that.
Really, it was not that bad. The worrying about it beforehand was way worse. It was laparoscopic, so it's just two small incisions, one 1" one, and one bigger one I couldn't measure because it went from about 1" below my belly button and extended deep into it. That one hurt the worst, too. Now, had I had to have the open gallbladder surgery, where they make a 6-8" incision below your rib cage, yes, that would have been a really nasty experience. As it was, it was about three days of pain, one of which was pretty severe, and a couple weeks getting back to relatively normal. After that, it was just itching at the incision sites. And no more gallstone attacks! Now THOSE hurt like hell - a LOT worse than the surgery, by far.
