Exactly! Aaron was a great all around player. His HR record is awesome, but it ended up eclipsing the fact that he could do it all.

And have never even watched a baseball game, apparently. List these people Jewels, I know a few guys who will pay them a visit. And by a visit, I mean RAPE.

On this front, you would get along with my uncle, who was so enthralled with Hank that when he (meaning, my uncle) was married and his wife was expecting, they determined to name the child Henry if male (or Christine, since he and his wife were tennis fans, if female).

Unfortunately, the child was still-born... And the trauma eventually led to my uncle and aunt's divorce.

But, yeah... Not to end this on a dour note.

... So - my all-time outfield would be Aaron, Rickey, and Clemente. I don't know, though - I'd have to get Bonds on the squad as DH, or something... And could Ruth go on as the best-hitting pitcher ever?

Also: in the post-modern era (starting either '69 (divisional play) or '73 (?) (the dh)), I would probably rate Rickey ahead of Barry as the best outfielder. But I'd also have to think about Winfield...

Noice.

I don't know, though. A lot of cats get screwed when you're naming three for one position when there've been so many greats. Where's Yaztrzemski? Reggie? Al Simmons?

It's tough.

For whatever reason, I slighted Mays... Mostly to get Rickey on there.

I'd do the same on the NBA side to get Iverson on an all-time roster, though. So, yeah... Sometimes, it's not overall play that gets me, but style.

Ny Dad wouldn't forgive me if in a discussion about great oufielders I didn't mention Ted Williams.

Steve

edit:Not an all around player to be sure, but you can't ignore that hitting.

Aren't you from NY?

'Cause, I'm thinking, that's ballsy on your dad's part to call out Williams... Unless he's a Mets fan - which, come to think of it, YOU are; so, if the apple is not so far from the tree... - in which case, it's just more salt in the Yanks's eye.

My Dad was a Dodgers fan so at the time he was all about Duke Snider. However, you could always count on my Dad to like a ballplayer if he was lefthanded (as my Dad is) or Jewish (also as my Dad is)

So Sandy Koufax got bonus points.

Or Koufou, as he was known to Drysdale until the day he died.

And, since I know the ATL krew has an itchy trigger-finger, I'll get this out here, so I'll get it out first...

RAPE.

I hope Livan Hernandez nails Bonds in the head with a fastball and he spends the rest of his days eating through a straw.

No. He has to get in line behind Jeffrey Hammonds.

Not to mention the fact that Aaron went thru real, tangible strife on his way to the record - while Bonds acts like a little pussy bitch everytime someone looks at him wrong.
