Isn't the Sox schedule more difficult that the Tribe's from here on out? I know Cleveland comes here tomorrow to pound my Royals for 4 straight.

Let's put it this way: unless the Tribe win today, the division is almost certainly ours. Even if they do win today, I'm not that worried about it. The Sox have owned Detroit all year and Cleveland won't win every game.

I think they passed the verge a week ago. This is full on collapse.

what is the Sox record in the last 5 games?

In the month of september?

You people should really learn the definition of "collapse"

You're right. It's not a collapse. Going from 15 games up to 3.5 is "Ozzie Ball".

You don't seem to understand that the Sox didn't play Cleveland once in the 43 games they went 32-11, and that the previous time they had played them, they had swept them at the Jake in four games. Meanwhile, August was ALWAYS gonna be brutal for the Sox, and anyone following baseball who took a passing look at their schedule knew they'd go .500 at best. Instead they went a slightly worse 12-16 and followed it up with a 7 game winning streak to start september.

Overall, the Sox are 11-4 against the Tribe this year head to head.

The Sox still have the best record in the AL, and all the teams chasing them are full of holes.

To knock the Sox out of the playoffs, all three teams would have to play 4 games better than them down the stretch.

Would you be worried? Of course not.

Also, go ahead and take a gander at Cleveland's second half schedule, perhaps the easiest second half schedule in the history of the American League.

Bring something other than half-assed reasoning to the table next time and maybe you won't have to resort to this.

Or maybe it's just pointless debating anything with a half-assed wannabe sports talk radio host who still masturbates to his Ron Kittle poster.

Sure the White Sox are 11-4 against Cleveland for the season. Okay, you say Cleveland has had an exceedingly easy second half. The fact remains that the division they had previously ran away from is now within reach. Also, Chicago ain't 11-4 against the Red Sox, Yankees, Angels and Athletics.

Maybe he wants the team to win the wild-card, since that's how FLA took the crown in '03... I give Guillen two more years. He's done.

Garland has been the man all season and we need him to come up large tonight. Going against a red-hot Elarton is no easy task.

Been there the past two games and there again tonight...

I've said repeatedly that the White Sox lose any first round series they play, so it's not like you're gonna get any argument from me regarding that.

It's just hilarious to me that everyone nationally wants the White Sox to fail. They don't like the team, they don't like the story, they don't like the manager. The fact remains: everyone picked this team to finish in fourth place this year and to win less than 80. They don't have stellar talent. They don't have front-line pitching. They don't don't have one player who is hitting above .300. They don't have an experienced closer, in fact they are on their fourth closer this season, probably more than any other contender.

This season is already a sweeping success. Guillen, both years he has managed, has gotten way more out of the team than he should've. Remember, he has had Frank Thomas for exactly 60/324 games both seasons. Last year he lost Mags for 2/3rds of the season. And that team still went over .500. This season, he has gotten literally everything you could've out of this team. People didn't want to pay any mind to them when they got out to a hot start and now people can't stop salivating at the prospect of a "choke"

A "choke" occurs when a team, expected to do well, does not perform.

Are the White Sox expected to do well by anyone? Were they all season? Hell no. Not by anyone but their fans. And now they are set to win their division. And they will.

To paraphrase a local reporter in today's rag, a choking team does not do what they did last night.

And people still say that this team are "losers"

Jesus, man, wake up and look at this team. They are slightly above average in the best light. And they have won 91 games.

You really don't understand baseball if you think the manager is somehow "to blame" for an average team winning 91 games. He should be manager of the year, no matter how the team does down the stretch.

This is a much different tune you're singing now than you were earlier in the year.

I thought that they were a nice story through mid-year but expected a big correction bringing them back much closer to the .500 level team they should be based on their talent level. Any pleasure I take in their collapse, is more of a "told you so" to White Sox fans (including you) who insisted they were for real and questioned why anyone would suggest it was likely that they would collapse. I enjoy being right but I don't have any animosity for them.

I admit, I was drinking some kool-aid up through july, but how can you not when your team is like 30 over 2/3rds of the way through? How can you not believe in almost anything when they won almost every series they played.

I still don't see how this season isn't a success no matter what the outcome.

You were taking best on Chicago to win the ALDS against any opponent in four games, back in what, August?
