When I travelled a lot for business, many times I had to arrive wearing a business suit only cuz I had to head over straight to the office upon arrival. But, fuck if you'd find me wearing heels -- I'd have my sneaks on or a pair of flats, then change over to the "you ain't fuckin' with me" heels before entering the office doors.

Btw, that pajama look -- ugly ugly ugly. Certifies that those girls are obviously the trailer trash they are. And don't get me started on all the flip-flops I see being worn these days with NICE outfits. *shudder* I don't get it.

but wtf is wrong with being comfy while flying? i think it's ridiculous when i see people dressed up at the airport. although i wouldn't be caught dead in my pj's at the airport....

Actually, if you're "dressed up" you have better opportunity for upgrading your ticket to First or Business Class. Otherwise, you get to be stuck in Coach with the rest of the schmucks like me.

Not always. when i was flying back from Helsinki, Finland, they upgraded me to first class [thank god, 9 hr flight], and i'd been travelling from Estonia, up for 2 days.....roughin' it. :D

Probably, just that OPA! was one of the stewards on the flight, and wanted a little more privacy for you and him.

And will never be sticking my nose up someone's ass in an attempt to change that.
you are in high school.

Guess again...not everyone turns into a corporate ass-kisser when they get old.

Fisrt concert...Blue Oyster Cult...that should give you some age-range guestimate. I'd place bets on my being older than a guy going by Joey Crack.

hey stop talking and serve me my fries!

I wouldnt be caught dead on a plane without at least a blazer on. Its proper home training. But thank God for slip on shoes; though my cowboy boots have gotten me pulled out of line a couple times.

And shit, I wear shorts and Vans to work a lot.

And I'm successful and dont kiss anybody's ass.

Just about sums up the Bloor/LooGAR way of life.

This statement would have a lot more integrity if you didn't consume any of corporate america's products. Just because you're not an employee doesn't mean you're out of the wheel.

It is possible to still have an employer and live life on your own terms and values.

Works fine if your inclinations and tastes run close enough to feel comfortable in a traditional setting without feeling you have compromised yourself. One man's doing what's proper is another man's ass kissing. I have no problem with that. It's just not for me, which past experience has led me to understand over time I just don't think anyone else should have a problem with someone that takes a different path based on their tastes and inclinations.

I am continually amazed how people who choose their life path seem to just assume that everyone else should take a similar path or else they get offended or quick to attack another's choices. I'm not saying anyone else needs to change the way they live...just that I've found how I prefer to live.

I have a good wife, good friends, enough money to pay the bills, go out, buy music and drinks. And, I have very little contact with anyone in authority over me, wear what I want, talk the way I want and basically get left alone for the 40 or so hours I have to spend working every week to get by. The situation is just right for me.

All more money would buy me is a different aesthetic and I'm quite content with my own as it is and very unwilling to take the steps necessary to accomplish more financially...which I know from experience as I have worked in many situations over the years and have a rather high level of education with multiple advanced degrees in what amount to useless fields as I was impractical while attending college as well.

I generally refuse to supplicate my will in order to live a life more acceptable and desirable to others. It's just one of many options that exist out there and we must all find our own path. If that's just too much for someone with a simplistic view of the world which includes only one correct way to happiness to understand...that's not my problem.

I won't get into the impossibility of surviving without buying anything from corporate america...unless you wanna become the unabomber; you're screwed on that front. I worry about things I actually have some measure of control over.

I agree with you...you just have to choose which employer fits the choices you wish to make as to how you. I'm just answering back because apparently, if I choose not to work in a suit and tie kinda place, I am either ridiculously poor...a naive high school student...or somehow completely deficient in getting through life properly.

But the tone of your posts indicates that's exactly what you're doing by labelling traditionally-minded people as ass-kissers and having a simplistic world view. EDIT: grammer-mer-mer

I never said anything about what others do. I just stated a personal idea and was getting crap tossed at me for it and responded.

You don't think that...

Could be...if you're overly sensitive. I stated I don't give a shit. If you interpret that as my saying neither should you...that's not my fault.

I am overly sensitive, but I think some thicker-skinned people here might agree with me that your word choice implies an attitude that giving a shit makes one inferior to you. Maybe not, though.

Hmmm, I didn't take it that way, but I've also known nobody a while, so take my impression for what it's worth.

Yes, this is true. My own personal record is 5 days.
