This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest thread ideas in the history of bulletin boards. Here are the five songs which best encapsulate the FT music listening experience:

"Baker Street" - Gerry Rafferty
"Gene Autry" - Beulah
"So Very Hard To Go' - Tower of Power
"Magazine" Pedro The Lion
"Freeze-Frame" - The J. Geils Band (not necessarily one of my five all-time favorite songs, but it's THE textbook example of my oft-mentioned "4Hs" formula for perfect music: Horns, Handclaps, Hammond and Harmonies)

Exquisite. Aces on the Stooges track as well, it's either that one or TV Eye for me.

"Alan is a Cowboy Killer" - Mclusky
"You Left the Water Running" - Otis Redding
"Roadrunner" - The Modern Lovers
"Jack the Ripper" - LL Cool J
"Going Down" - Freddie King

this is like the fifth draft of this list in as many minutes, but fuck it those sum things up pretty nicely. I think I might just go out and make a "quintessential me" mix now to reduce my essence to a 74 minute compact disc.

Pink Frost is fantastic. The Chills discography is pretty great all in all, but that song towers above the rest. I love the way the first twenty seconds start off jangly before the song morphs.

It was massive at the time, but that song is never played on the radio here anymore at all, which is odd considering it's from the other side of my city. When im in America though, I'll hear it at least once a week on the radio.
