Yup. Marlowe is no more.

Just thought I'd let yah'll know because you have always been so supportive.
I pretty sad about it, but I don't really want to go into details.

But yup... so it goes.

...Guess it's on to my starting my own series of cheesy 80s cover bands.

That sucks. If you're thinking of 80s covers, I suggest a tribute to Missing Persons.

That sucks. I quite enjoy the He Is There And He's Funny album. I haven't listened to it as much as I should have since buying it, but I remember liking it when I did listen to it.

Alex will rise from the ashes and become the next generation's Hope Sandoval.

Which means no money, but our nephews will prattle on about how hot she was on whatever the equivalent of message boards will be 15 years from now.

You guys are all very sweet.

Yeah, last night was pretty rough.

But, contrary to my usual "cry alone in my room" routine, I've actually just decided to tell all my friends which has been making me feel very much better.

I really do have such great & supportive friends & bf. My man actually left work the minute he heard and came home to comfort me. And all of my closest friends have launched into the "you don't need them anyway" line of reasoning which always seems to work.

Oh... to be Hope Sandoval. ...I love that woman. Sign me up for that.

Thanks kids. Ahhh... I'll find some other project to work on.... I've already met some cool kids here in TO who want to work on stuff.

First of all, my condolences. Been there. The only consolation is the relief that one finally feels (if this has been a long time coming), but yeah, the loss SUCKS.

Now, on to more important business...someone needs to photoshop their picture in those pictures of 80's bands...

Woah. Nice job!

If it makes you feel any better, I just played with a good friend for (probably) the last time tonite. He and his family are moving to Nashville Saturday. He and I are kindred souls who can play together and know what the other guy is going to do, or if we don't, we can follow almost instantly.

I'm going to miss him and his playing and his beer drinking and his Duke imitation. :(

I'm gonna go cry now.

Much love, Alex. You're going to thrive in this, and I think something in you already knows that.

It'll be a blessing in the long-run, Alex.
For you shall still rock.

Tell me something, and I apologize for not knowing more than I do... are you more of a side-girl, or are you a front-person (terms gender-adjusted). I ask because this has always been my issue with playing. I don't ever write anything that I like, and I don't sing very strongly, so I'll never front a band. And I'm ok with that - I don't mind being Keef instead of Mick. It just means I have to pick my Mick carefully, because I'm sorta letting someone else drive.

Playing with Busty, for example, is a lush gig. Because he could very well carry such gigs alone, and has just a great friggin voice. He also doesn't give himself enough credit on guitar, so really my job is to not screw things up and make things sound better, if possible. And Old Kentucky, if he's still around... same deal, in a way. I only played with him for like a year off-n-on, but he wrote stuff that just slayed me. I felt so lucky to have stumbled upon him and to have been able to be part of it. I guess my point is, if you ARE a #2, have you got any prospective #1's around town in mind, or are you starting from scratch? Apologies for post length.

Well, see, then the impact is much less, I hope. If she's the stuff, then the stuff's still intact. Do what Chuck Berry would do... show up demanding a briefcase full of cash, play with strangers, and leave in a limo.
