Justin Timberlake, On one hand he has plugged the Flaming Lips and Johnny Cash. On the other hand he's a complete tool.

This is not a bad album. These guys are pretty mainstream, but have also written some great pop tunes. Certainly not 'indie', but they deserve some props.

Adrian Belew - writes, plays, produces, and releases all of his own stuff (with some help of friends in a few instances.)

Aimee Mann - see above.

Jesus:

pretty normal dude with good people skills, but critics from two or three generations later loved him like people in the 90's love the Velvet Underground. They literally made him into a god. wrote a whole book about him, calling his story the sequel to the bible. Some people even devoted a WHOLE religion to him. But while he was alive he was hated so much they nailed him to a cross.

and just like Neil Diamond . . . he was a jew.

that's mad indie.

Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

They somehow have the ability to make Janet Jackson sound cool and hip, even when she's 80-years-old.

Damita Jo, All For You and The Velvet Rope are great.

winner.

Mot, since when did Aimee Mann not have indie cred?

I'll add anyone that we would probably like a lot more had they not been endorsed by Dave Matthews. David Gray is the best example of this.

Guys Kelly Clarkson was indie endorsed a long time ago.

Now to answer the question, Placebo is a band due for critical reappraisal.

Neil Diamond. New album. Due 24 October?

Produced by Rick Rubin.

... Jesus?

New album?... He's still in pre-production. It's supposed to be so Good it will be the end of albums, though.

Kind of like Jay's Black Album.

I love this album although I don't know if it needs any indie cred. I think Liz Phair sung backup on American Girls. Perhaps that's not helping the case.

Nah, it's one of theirs. You don't remember that song? I guess it is nearly 4 years old.

Got their deal from a bunch of 4-track demos they recorded with their dad in their garage. Later released those demos on a major label. Worked with Matthew Sweet and profess their love for music – regardless of genre.
