Def. not top-10 Dylan, but it's got tons of personal connections.

I wouldn't be able to just waltz into a record store and get Sticks and Stones by The 77s. I'd have to go on e-bay and pay upwards of $30 - $40.

Wow- I could get that kind of cash for my copy??

Hmmmmm.

oh ok. well they have two others and they're all drastically different from one another.

the first one, leitmotif, is heavier with significantly less singing. infact i think i actually calculated this once and it turned out to be something like 73% instrumental, but the absence of vocals isn't very noticeable at all. the instrumentation on this is very creative and often leans towards the progressive side of things but is never overtly technical. production has a very raw quality to it, vocals are mixed pretty low- despite this what they're able to create is surprisingly powerful. they also incorporate a good deal of eastern influences including chanting. definitely unlike anything i've ever heard before and flows flawlessly from one song to the next.

the sound on el cielo is much more mature and dynamic- the phrase 'sweepingly epic' comes to mind when trying to describe it. vocals are pushed to the forefront (and for a long time this is where they lost me) and the instrumentation is slightly more familiar/accessible. heavy guitars (while repetitive at times), creative drumming and eastern influences are all still present but take a backseat to the vocals and overall sound of the album. the production is much cleaner and dream-like, the rhythms more pounding, the melodies easier to sing along to. overall a decidedly uplifting album to listen to (if you can get over the vocals.)

difficult for me to recommend one over the other, but i'd say they're both vastly superior to catch without arms

Well, based on that...

Dredg : Leitmotif CD (New) 1 $8.96
Dredg : El Cielo CD (Used) 1 $7.96

Bought 'em both for less than $20 from Django's.

Thanks!

Happened to me, well mostly. Lost A-R of my cd collection when we moved to Chicago. They didn't touch the vinyl (suckers it's worth a lot more), but still they got about $5,500 worth of stuff (which the moving company not so graciously paid).

Seven years later, I'm still looking for a few titles to be purchased at any price.

Got a list? Maybe there's a couple things people could make you burns of that'll hold you over until you find "real" copies.

The ones I'm out for most:

Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation: "Delegation Time"
V/A: "Dictators Forever, Forever Dictators" the Dictators tribute album

Those are the biggies, most of the others I've either replaced or I've got on vinyl. Any help tracking these down would be infinitely appreciated.

Looks like you could score a used vinyl copyhere if you're not set on cd.

I'll give it a shot, but I've struck out on Gemm a number of times. Thanks.

I think I've got that one in my piles of old cassettes, but I doubt that's gonna help.

I can burn to CDR from cassette, if it makes a difference.

You know, "want lists" should be a regular feature around here.

I can burn from a cassette too, but I'll see if the Gemm order comes through. Thanks, though. Radcliffe, if you find that tape, give it a spin, "Hey Disco" is a dynamite tune.
