Question: Six Organs of Admittance. Would this be something I'd like? Ish? Anyone?

How'd you get your grubby paws on this? A close friend of mine burned me a copy of the 500 or so limited pressings from the Gladtree Festival in Amherst this past year. I see you're in Hawaii, so I was curious. Also, when was the Demonic Yellow Swans record released? Radar must be down.

Yod had a few copies up on their mailorder awhile back, I believe there are two copies up on ebay right now as well. The Demonic Yellow Swans was released as CDR back in March maybe (might have been April I'm not sure). It came out through HLAH not Jyrk for some reason though. Let me see if I can figure out the whole YSI thing and I can gladly get it to you if you want. Just let me know.

What's this like? I really liked the White Rock record they did with Double Leopards but haven't checked this out yet.

I doubt I could describe it very well, and I haven't heard any of their other stuff to compare it to. I ripped it to YSI to Ish, and I'll send you a link to it once it's uploaded if you'd like.

Okay, the new New Model Army just inserted itself somewhere in my Top 20...Carnival...not their best, but still better than most of the rest of the rock'n'roll out there...

Hey Chris, whats the big deal about Antony and the Johnsons? Still havent heard them. RIYL?

Also, I've got a mix of M.Ward that a friend gave me (no track names unfortunately); some of it is good, but a lot of it is really snoozy. Is this years album along these lines?

Just wonderin'.

It's definitely not for everyone. It's just very emotional androgynous vocals with lots of piano. It's very melodramatic so it's really a hit or miss album.

EDIT: RIYL? Definitely Rufus Wainwright.

Well, it depends what you mean by snoozy. There are a lot slow songs on the album but there are a few mid tempo tracks, but I would guess that he's right up your alley. If you didn't like the slow songs on the mix, you probably won't like Transistor Radio.

I would guess that you could find it at one of the bookstore chains, probably Borders if there's one near you. Maybe even Best Buy. Iron & Wine has gotten pretty popular.

But then Black Hollywood (?) is always waiting with open arms.

Great album isn't it. I highly recommend checking out their split with Angels of Light as well. All seven tracks of theirs on that record are actually (arguably) even better than anything on the self titled. If you dig that I also recommend checking out Great Lakes Swimmers. But then again who an I to making any sort of recommendations.
