I don't know, but I hear that that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Nope.

1) find a gf who likes sports, or...

2) find a gf who has a father who like sports even more than you, then...

3) if the above woman also happens to like music and sex and...

4) has a good sense of humor...

marry her. Don't settle for less.

Edit: I'm assuming you already know about 5) she's hott.

Yup..you're pretty much screwed. I'm missing playing soccer this afternoon for my mother in law's birthday.

How about the father in law? Maybe he'll be wanting to watch the game.

Once you're married, multiply the boring family events you must attend by 2, or in my case by about 10 considering I came from a tiny little family and she's got too many aunts, uncles and cousins to count.

They call it compromise.

The guy I student taught with told me that marriage is 99% compromise.

The husband compromises 99% of the time. Stick to your guns on things that are ultra important to you. Like veto power on your children's names.

But what do I know? I'm a failure as a monogamist.

The trick is to find a gf whose parents live at least 2 hours away from you and her.

This, alone, has cut down on the family visits fivefold.

Welcome to the club, man.

Cheers,

this is the correct answer.

<--- in-law's = over 1500 miles away.

I completely missed on music, but she's got the rest. My wife doesn't listen to music at all. But that's okay with me because that means I don't have to listen to crap I don't like.

Why do YOU have to go to HER mother's? Can't she visit on her own?

We're having the gf's mother over to our place to watch the Falcons game.

Her Mom called me last weekend to give me the score when we were on the road.

Feel it.

Just take a stash of Vitamin V with you and start whooping it up...better yet: Edward 40 Hands...not that I would do either, but this is the type of advice you would dole out to me ;)

Yeah, in-laws are nothing. Wait 'til you have a kid(or three). Case in point: I went to the circus today instead of watching my Seahawks. Turns out the Seahawks were more of a circus than Mr. Ringling and his brothers.

TiVo'd the debacle, and just watched it on fast forward.

I love my mother and all and she's not even that bad in mother terms, but I don't see why I'd subject a guy to spend time with her.
