Do I need anything from this band?

I like The Magnificent Tree. They had sort of a cool ambient electronic dream pop thing going on that album. But some of the songs wouldn't sound too far removed from a lot of what can be heard on Dido's first CD, which is a bad thing for most folks here but not necessarily for me. Most fans of the group seem to prefer Blue Wonder Power Milk.

Yeah, at one time I had both Blue Wonder Power Milk & The Magnificent Tree and enjoyed them, but they didn't have much staying power for me and I ended up getting rid of them.

Considering my impressions of what you like, Borg, I would say they are at least worthy of some investigation.

A less challenging Portishead from the minor trip-hop bubble in the mid- to late-90's. All sultry beats, hushed Euro-vox, Morricone guitars, and icy synths. Had its time and place, but not much staying power. Their first "hit" pretty much sampled wholesale from (I think) "Walk On By" by Isaac Hayes.

"2wicky" is the "Walk on By" sampled track. Word for word what I was gonna say. I was never even into them but I knew someone at Epic who get me into the release party for The Magnificent Tree which they played an ok set at the Viper Room.

Yeah, "Zwicky." I think they switched singers somewhere along the way, too. Maybe they swapped with Sneaker Pimps.

Nothing egregiously bad here, but fast becoming dated and destined to end up on some nostalgic 90's "alternative" comp.

Yeah, their first album was with a different vocalist.
