Who gave Virginia Tech the first-place vote?

The Hokies are much more overrated than UGA could ever be, as well.

Aren't we overrated every year at the beginning, where we keep squeaking out wins dispite ourselves? I am most definately talking out of my ass, but it sure feels that way.

Agreed sir. 3:30 kickoff helps. I'd hate to play this one at 7pm. Also, it appears Rick Clausen is walking wounded at this point and they have some other players banged up too.

The fact the SEC is playing out perfectly for us makes me uneasy. Everyone is beating the shit out of each other. I'm not buying that UF is as bad as that beat down they took against Bama.

This one has the makings of an instant classic.

I think whoever can run the ball will win it. If we can hold Riggs under 100-110 yards and our 3 backs can combine for around 150 we'll win.

This one should be Gameday's game this week. Isn't the Red River Shoot Out this weekend too?

I agree with EVERYTHING said here. We are no more #5 than Somalia is #5 in world economies. I mean, JEBUS!

That said, Suga Shane openly won a "raffle" (and by wona raffle I mean, our boy C. who works for the place holding it openly rigged it) for:
4 tickets to UGA Tennesee
a Navigator Limo from ATL to Knoxville, and back
All YOU CAN DRINK MILLER LITE

AND

Friday night Widespread and Dwight Yoakam are playing in Mobile and can do none of this fun stuff because "Boss"/Sterling is getting fucking married.

HATE EVERYTHING, MUST KILL!!

Depends on how many INT he throws during this week's annual loss to OU.

I don't know how Virginia Tech could be considered overrated after they dismantled Georgia Tech and beat previously unbeaten West Virgina at Morgantown easily. Only NC State challenged them the first week, and then they shutout the two cupcakes.
Miami is the only team left on their schedule that really has a shot at beating them, both BC and Virginia could challenge them, but neither look like they are good enough to win.

P.S.
It looks like my Cornhuskers might end up winning the Big 12 North to be the sacrificial lamb for Texas before they face USC.

One conference win against #23 Iowa State in 2x-overtime and the Huskers 'might' win the Big 12 North? If you think the Cyclones are NU's fiercest competition in the North, it's time you stop smoking that filthy Nebraska meth. The only game people in Manhattan really care about is on Nov. 12. They've had your number for the past five years, and I seriously hope this year is no different.

I see what you're doing here......and I like it!

I will say that if the above scenario were to happen and Texas played for it I will go postal at the nearest NCAA office.

That's not a slight to Texas but more to the fact that the Big 12(OU) had no freaking business playing in the Championship game the last two years.

Texas may even have the best shot to beat USC but I don't care the Big 12 shouldn't play in it. Fair is fair.

I'm not saying Iowa State was our toughest competition nor am I saying we will run the table. I'm just saying after the results of this past weekend, Nebraska and Colorado are the only teams that really control their own destiny in the North.
Mizzou looked pretty bad against Texas and already has two losses on the year.
K-State was destroyed by a fairly mediocre OU team
Kansas lost a decent game to the Cornhuskers next opponent Texas Tech.
Most Nebraska fans think you can flip a coin to determine the rest of the year. No team we still have to play is a complete patsy for a team of Nebraska's caliber and no team really looks like they should annihilate the Cornhuskers either if they continue to play well.
I would have thought the folks in the Little Apple would be more pumped about playing Colorado or Oklahoma this year than the Huskers, since we haven't been that good. I know the folks in Lincoln really only care about this week and OU on October 29th.

if they hadn't blown their 10 point 4th quarter lead over clemson, they would be ranked right now.

i know, woulda-coulda-shoulda...they really aren't GREAT...but good enough to surprise some folks (ie UVA).

Cheers for dropping the Little Apple, but no, K-Staters only care about beating the Big Red. KU, ISU & Mizzou are typically easy wins (despite losses to two of those teams last year). They mean very little. A win vs. NU determines whether or not the 'Cats had a good season, not their record.

Great, now we have to make a wager. I'll PM you.

UVA is one of those always ranked around #20 then upset the following week teams. I didn't see the Clemson game, but I was at the Navy game. Granted, Navy runs that option offense well, and it was the first game of the season, but the Terps don't have the horses to run with a VT or Miami or Florida State. They aren't bad, but the ACC is no longer Florida State then everyone else in a waterballoon fight.

I think the respective results of ND-Purdue and Chargers-Patriots speak for themselves. Mofo is an offensive genius!

EDIT: A better comparison would be the PPG for ND and NE 2004 vs. 2005:

ND 2004 = 24.83 PPG
ND 2005 = 37.0 PPG
Year-to-Year Delta = +12.17 PPG

NE 2004 = 27.31 PPG
NE 2005 = 21.75 PPG
Year-to-Year Delta = -5.56 PPG

So, the Pats drop nearly a touchdown per game without Weis, and the Irish add almost TWO TDs a game with him...GENIUS!!!

In my semi-professional opinion: Virginia Tech is probably better than Texas on a neutral field. I've only seen one half of a Texas game (vs. OSU) and most of 3 VT games..... I say the Hokie defense shuts down V. Young. And if special teams and coaching are the intangibles---Tech wins by 10-12 points.

I'd make the game Va Tech -2.5

Good to see Penn State ranked again. We'll see how the OSU game goes. We only need one more game for a bowl bid, and yes my expectations are that low this year.
