Sometimes it takes a truckload of years for people to come around to realizing greatness:

That is a great album. Why don't I own it?

I'm gonna have to upgrade my 4-million played cassette, I know that.

It's been out-of-print for sometime... got mine over eBay for $20 about two months ago. Of course, the next day at Reckless Records, I see it for $6.99.

Bastards.

I bought it on vinyl off ebay last year for $5. Great album, indeed. I got The Good Earth from the same guy for $3.

Although they never produced an album as great as Crazy Rhythms I always preferred the Embarrassment overall.

Four members with glasses beats out two members.

Interesting. I just discovered the Embarassment recently, and love them as well. Why didn't they ever make it bigger?

I have always preffered "Only Life", "Away" is one of my favorite songs by any band ever.

Peace

Love Crazy Rhythms but agree that Only Life is nearly as good, and I often like it more. Great recording too on the later one with very nice sound.

I know that a lot of people don't seem to think nearly as much of it as I do, but the Electrelane The Power Out album from earlier this year has a lot of Feelies feel to it. Not so much lately, but for the longest time I just kept coming back to it over and over. It's a little hard to describe just exactly what the appeal is, but it's got boatloads of it, whatever it is. One of those albums that doesn't really knock you out with anything in particular, but one that I always seem to be in the mood to hear. They do go through a few styles, but usually retain some of that Velvet Underground rhythm sound like the Feelies. And more recently, Life Without Buildings, another (unfortunately shortlived) band that had the Feelies in their blood. Electrelane mixes in some of the sound that I love about Blonde Redhead too. Gives it a little bit of a fractured sound. Some very cool influences and the Albini production is perfect. Great sound.

But Crazy Rhythms is the real deal. Essential. Worth every one of those 5 stars.

Great album, great band. Though Crazy Rhythms and Only Life get all the press, I love all four albums. The Good Earth has such a relaxed groove, just feels so comfortable. And nobody ever mentions their last album; Time For A Witness, but it has some of their best tunes; like the title track and Decide, plus a great version of The Stooges Real Good Time.

This was actually the first Feelies album I ever heard. Good stuff.
