Though the unnamed manager's position can hardly be described as objective, his opinion gains credence when you take in to the account that the name the Wyrd (or Weird) Sisters isn't even going to be mentioned once in the upcoming film... Once the band refused to sell the name, the filmmakers decided to let the film's trio go nameless. So no cause of action, right?

Well, according to the Sisters' lawyer: "They've already created an association between the name and the band and that's all you need."

That hack Rowling SHOULD be sued!!! Sued for stealing the bones of her books from Gaiman, et al.´s brilliant Books of Magic series. The coincidences are just too many and too close for it to not be blatant thievery.

Anyone who actually believes that these idiots are doing it to shore up their sullied reputation is a fucking idealist.

I find it really hard to believe, Juno or no, that they've made more than $50,000 (much less a million!) in their crappy band.

Haq, do me a favor and put your law hat on for a second (and, please, first remove your official Radiohead fanclub-only helicopter beanie). Now, does it really matter how much money the Wyrd Sisters make as an entity?

Thanks Colin, I was actually in the middle of answering his question when my bowl of cereal flipped over all over the keyboard, my clothes and the floor. The cat found it more exciting then I did.

But now, according to Canada.com's National Post, the Wyrd Sisters not only lost the court battle, but have been ordered to pay $140,000 of Warner Brothers' legal fees due to the "highly intrusive" lawsuit and criticism of the judiciary involved in the legal battle.

Ouch. The heading is hilarious, though.

I believe that was "spent" on the band. They are Canadian, afterall.

Quote:
"Do you know what I've spent on the band in the past 10 years?" she told ChartAttack.com. "In the last 10 years I've spent more than a million dollars. Offering me $50,000 is more than an insult."

I had heard of them before this article.

I can't believe she put a million dollars into the band in 10 years. That's $100,000 a year. I mean, how much can you spend on booze and drugs?
