Wait til you Chicago guys see what you're getting before you gloat about this trade.
I like Sweetney - he may develop into an effective role player on the right team. He works hard, hustles and you never hear of him whining. It's just that he has limited upside potential.
Tim Thomas - this guy is a waste of talent. Plays hard when he wants - not every night. He's a locker room nuisance (from what we read/hear) and is one of those guys who will float around the league for a few more years without doing much and then kind of dissapear. Thank you for taking him.
Jermaine Jackson - who? He won't even make your roster.
Conditional picks - the NBA lottery is a crap shoot most years - especially late in the first round and second round.
New York, on the other hand gets a still improving big man who has a lot of upside. Very little risk to NY in this trade - I believe.
The Knicks were not going anywhere this year with their roster - any change was welcome. I do get sick of those who say Larry Brown will get us in the playoffs this year - I say, bullshit - unless Larry can suit up and drop in thirty - you cannot have high expectations with this roster. The trade may or may not work out but we needed to make some moves.
Curry hasn't improved much at all. He's terrible defensively and on the boards. He's got loads of offensive talent, just no stamina and doesnt seem to care a lot of the time. The point wasn't even who we were getting back, just who we were getting rid of. I don't even see Tim Thomas playing that much. He'll probably provide some offense off of the bench if he doesn't get cut, then there's no chance of him being back in the off season barring a career year in every aspect of his game. I'm infinitely confident in Paxson's scouting abilities; Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, and Duhon in one year? Ridiculous. He'll be able to do well with these picks, and if not, no harm done. We will probably get AD back once New York cuts him (veteran leadership oh noes!)
So I love this trade for the Bulls.
