Top 75 even, perhaps.

And while I have known the album for some 10 years now, this intense love for it is something recent.

So good.

Added to charts.

Yeah, it's a good one. I'm surprised to find it hadn't been put on our charts already.

Lookin' at you, Borgo!

I could easily fit Laid into my Top-25.

Also, if you have Laid, you need Millionaires as well.

Never heard of it. What's the word?

Edit: Oh, James, yeah, I do know that one. Nevermind. Guess I never saw the cover, and I don't have a copy, but do like that sound.

Over-rated. But still good. Don't think it even cracks my top 1000, but then again, my top 1000 has a lot of really good albums on it.

Love the record, not impressed by much else by the band. Ever hear the Wah-Wah record, kind of additional stuff from the Eno sessions? Same vibe, but some cool moments.

Is there anything else by James that's even close?

Yes, and they were also produced by Eno.

Uh, should I feel way out of the loop because I've never heard of this band or album before?

And should I listen to it?

Everything?

New Pornographers, Devendra Banhart, the Doors, Ice Cube, Morphine, McLusky, the Melvins, King Diamond, Alice in Chains

Not necessarily all "favorites" but just trying to give an idea.

Here are a few songs you can sample.

This really devalues Todd's top 100.

this is actually a great fucking album....

i would like to see the haters explain why this albums isn't a great album?

is it the great production?

is it the catchy soings?

the great voice?

the superb lyrics?

the fact that you have not spent any time with the album?

the idea that someone loves an album that you have never heard, so your lack of indie cred says that you need to say the album sucks?

Well, some people here simply have bad taste in music. Now, I clearly have the best taste on Obner because I enjoy bands such as The New Radicals and singers like Usher, but there will always be those who are lame and need to find a new hobby.

Why do you assume that anyone who doesn't share your love for the album is a "hater" that doesn't know the album. I've been a fan of James since 1988. I probably bought "Laid" the day it came out. I've personally spent enough time to say its a decent but not great album to me. For me, they peaked with Strip Mine, the rest of their albums have a few really good songs each but have lots of filler.

Its great that todd likes the album....and nicer still that he's found a new found love for an album he'd somewhat forgotten. I love doing that. It may seem like some people piss on the love parade with negative comments. I personally like the balance. I bought a lot of forgettable albums a few years back because of the love fest for them from a few vocal supporters. I'm sure others felt differently, but it was an overly polite atmosphere back then and rarely would anyone say anything bad about an album if someone recommended it. I could have saved some coin if some of the "haters" had felt more free to share the hate. Hate on, I say.

You know, sometimes music can have all the right elements (what are you, a producer?), and still not "resonate". I don't hate it, but this one does not "resonate" the way some others do.
