It's a simple program, really. Just be a former pretty-boy art-wank who's now a middle-aged, slightly overweight father living in an isolated, conservative area and spend all your free time pretending you're still part of something you're interested in by posting b.s. on a message board.

Best class is to go out and buy an old car. I knew nothing about cars until this June. Now I can fabricate a choke housing bracket from the bottom of a soup can. I'm turning into MacGyver, ferchrissakes.

Got no help for you on the dulcimer deal.

After fulfilling one of my dreams—dropping David Schnaufer's name on a message board—I'm gonna drop some others off the top of my head.

- Vist all 50 states.
- Become completely self-employed.
- Go to Army-Navy Game. I had my first opportunity today, but I had to pass. ARGH
- Have an oddly interesting garden/back yard/beer garden.
- Give a substantial sum of money, say five figures, to a charity like - National Parkinson's Foundation or St. Jude's.
- Give a total stranger a job. Say, the one kid whom you can sense has talent, yet he's working the drive-thru at Wendy's.
- Have a killer stereo system.
- Design a menu.
- Buy house(s), possibly in one of the less desirable areas of Baltimore, like Pigtown or Brooklyn, and help rebuild the community from the ground up.
- Hear people use a slogan or ad hook I created as a catch-phrase. Even if it's as annoying as "Aflaaac" or "Bud…weis…er".
- Get a photograph published. Or maybe even an article or song. I don't write much these days, and I never really have as a hobby. The possibility is always there, though. I like to devise my own opinions and then share them, regardless of the agreeableness of the audience.
- Have an ad get published in the Wall Street Journal…Legitimately, I'm this close.

- be able to buy a house in a nice, safe area

- get rid of my 1990 Geo Prizm and not buy another car (this can't happen until I finish my master's - two classes to go)

- get married

- record that mouth trumpet Christmas album I keep talking about with my brother-in-law (this may actually happen in 2 weeks!)

I gots an autographed note from G.E. Smith that says "Dear Bill, Taylor wanted me to send you these CD's. Thanks for being cool." (Taylor Barton is his wife). It'd be awesome if my name were Bill. The package was addressed to "Bill Philshaw," so I think I probably stuttered on the phone.

- be absolutely fluent in another language (i can get by in spanish and russian, but am not fluent in either. and my japanese has eroded to almost worthless in the last five years.)
- do some urban exploring
- visit athens, istanbul, and cairo
- run with bulls in pamplona
- see a solar eclipse
- get a job i'm content with and, hence, have some stability in my life

um... there has to be more.

Somehow, you made a dancing banana appear lecherous. You're truly on a roll.

Gracias.

But seriously folks...

- Join a Sun Ra-ish orchestra and sing psych versions of old jazz tunes.
- Travel. a lot. e.g. India, Norway, Europe in general...etc...
- Find something I love to do work-wise.
- Maybe find a way to make a living at music.
- Own a wicked loft or some such open space with a back garden.
- Learn to play bass.
- Figure out which frickin medium I want to make things in... and then buckle down & learn it properly.
- Have a radio show.

Alex, oddly enough, this is me, in my bath, last night. I don't really see the resemblance, but I'm told it's there:

The only goal I've ever really had in life is to find out if the Kids In The Hall ever actually found Lopez.
