I just acquired a Schick Quattro and...it really isn't all that good. I've shaved with it like 3 times now and it already feels like it's dull. I've used a Gillette Mach3 for awhile and I think I'm going to stick with that because it seems like it goes for weeks without starting in with the nicks and scrapes. I've also thought about getting one of those Braun self cleaning ones but they're a wee bit expensive.

Interesting topic.

The Quattro is less efficient and comfortable than a 3-blader. I know because they gave me one at my graduation. Fuckers.

Combined with a shaving oil/lotion!, the Mach 3 is my preffered choice.

Fuck a razor. Beard me. I trim my neck with the Gilette Sensor they sent me 10 years ago. It's amazing how long a blades and a can of shaving gel will last when you only shave your neck once every couple weeks when needed.

You know what I fucking hate with a passion? Them damn lube strips they put on razors. They're too snotty to begin with, are ok for 1/4 of a shave then disentegrate for the rest of the time.

One blade Bic with no snot strip for me. Facially, but I use a Mach 3 Turdo on my legs and it's pretty sahweet.

MACH 3's are probably the unanimous choice, but their quality has gone to shit in the last few years. Out of the box, a fresh Mach 3 sux for about 4 days, then settles in for about 5 days, then shit-can it.

i probably shave every third day, at most, so i get use out of them for something like 3 weeks each.

i use one with a double blade. I think it's called a gillette sensor.

i've used it for about 12 years. The same razor. I just buy the refills. they are bloody expensive, but they are cheaper than the ones with 3 blades

When it comes to shaving, I've pretty much tried it all except the Quatro. Creams, gels, soaps. Boar's hair brushes, hot lathers, disposables. Straight blades, singles, doubles, triples. With the grain, against the grain, both. No matter what I do I end up bleeding somewhere and my skin hurts like a son of gun.

Electrics to the rescue. I've used Norelco, Remmington, and Braun. While costlier, Brauns foils last longer, especially with heavy beards, keeping the comfort level up, and costs down. Combined with a Mennen Pre-Electric lotion it gets as close as, well, a blade and I don't bleed and my face doesn't hurt like a mutha when I'm done. As a little extra bonus it's a bit ironic that electrics use less energy, especially compared to blade users that keep the hot water running throughout to say nothing of landfill space.

What this thread has to do with anything is beyond me. I must be hanging around here too much. What's next? boxers or briefs?

Mont Source Unique Shaving Solution

Contains an infusion of fifteen essential oils, carefully chosen from sources around the world (you wouldn't believe what they put in this bitch!), to achieve what is unquestionably the best shave a man can ever experience. Actually allows a man to see what he is shaving. Cleanses the pores, softens the hair follicle at the root, and provides a smooth, close shave no matter how tough the beard.

Just ask Chuck Palahniuk,  AUTHOR OF DIARY, CHOKE AND FIGHT CLUB. He always packs ... :
"Mont Source, which is called a 'shave solution.' It's one ounce in a little jar, and you shave with just a few drops of it. A jar can last you almost a year. The guy who cuts my hair showed it to me. It's the closest shave I've ever gotten, and it's traveling with a tiny jar as opposed to a big can of shaving cream."

I use a Mach 3, though they sent me a Turbo as well, but it's in my travel bag so I only use it when... traveling. Both are pretty nice.

Back in July I had a professional straight-razor shave and it really wasn't all that great. Yeah, the hot foam and towel is nice, but in the end they're still scraping a piece of metal across your face.

I use a Mach 3 as well. Anyone tried the powered Mach 3? Is that the turbo? Anyways, I have heard it can change your life. So I might want to get it soon. The Mach 3 I got in the mail when I turned 18, so I have only paid for the blades. Maybe I should buy one of my own now.

I dunno if I want something that combines sharp razor blades and vibration anywhere near my face.

Hm, I might have to try that Mont Source stuff. $14 isn't too bad if it lasts for about a year.

I wholeheartedly endorse the Gillette Corporation and their entire line of grooming products.

Mainly because they recently bought me a 51'' HDTV

I was thinking about shaving my beard off. Until I read this thread.

The Mach 3 is that rarest of creatures - the overhyped item that actually lives up to it. Count me in the group of those curious if anyone's used that new battery powered, borderline-dildo version.

And I have to shave my face 3 times ( down, up, & sideways ) to get a good shave. I usually only shave twice a week.

Hmm, why?

I guess gay guys can stand sandpaper face?

The Mont Source stuff does not last me a full year. I use more of it than they recommend, though - more than 4 drops.
