Saw 'em both tonight at Club Moscow (aka, Boardner's) in Hollywood.

Idlewild fuckin' owned the club! Having Roddy jumping off the stage and singing at my feet was too good to be true! At one point, he just looks at me from the stage, says "Hi! How are ya?" and shook my hand. Asking me to sing along to the last song was rather embarassing when I didn't know the words. His response? "That's ok, neither do I!" God, I love him! A short set, eight songs in all. It didn't matter, though, when they started it off singing "I Wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones, you knew it was gonna be a blast!

Rod J (guitarist) is almost 100% recovered after his incident over the weekend (see my thread from yesterday regarding my friend, Diane, treating him after the San Diego show). As we were eating dinner, he phoned Diane to make certain that she was showing up tonight and "how many shall I put on the guest list?" So goddamn nice!

We hung out as long as we could without being intrusive and finally called it a night. As we were leaving, we saw a surge of paparazzi following someone...Ohhh, look, it's Heather Graham! (Stupidly, I thought it was Scarlet Johanssen at first...ooops!) She was with a chubby guy, dunno if it was her man or a friend. Didn't care. They were leaving and attempting to escape the film freaks chasing her.

Dri? I met Chuckie and you were right! When I told him you said "hi"...he responsed with, "Everytime you come back, your drink is gonna get stiffer." Dude, he didn't lie about that one bit! Second drink was BAAAAAAARELY tinted pink (GG and Cran, baby). Problem was, each drink fuckin' cost me TEN BUCKS!!!

A great night...loads of fun...and I get tomorrow off. It feels good to be a rockstar again. ;)

Giving hope to not-so-skinny guys everywhere...

My wife and I bumped into her in NYC right before Katrina. It was funny because my wife is clueless about movie stars, and had no idea who she was.

Fuck, I should've went... I didn't get home from work until about 7:45-8 so there was NO way I was going out last night. And if I was at Moscow, it would've been one of *those* nights and I had that night on Monday.

Bummer Chuckie didn't hook you up with free drinks or a discount... he always hooks me up. But I told ya he's my favorite bartender in LA!

Well, he didn't know me. Maybe he wanted to make certain I could hang before he started giving me discounts. ;)

You should've totally gone last night. Band didn't go on until after 11:30P or so. There were some fans, friends of the band, and the rest were obvious regulars. Not extremely packed but definitely had its fair share of people.

Btw, interesting crowd. All fuckin' ages. The restaurant attracts one set of people, while the patio and dancefloor have other sets altogether. And a slew of lesbian Asian chicks -- wassup wit dat?! They all looked like they could've kicked my ass!

It's the premier 18+ indie/hipster night in LA... definitely an interesting crowd. That's why I said I need to be WAY drunk in order to tolerate the kids there.

It wasn't extremely packed? That's surprising... ah, but school's back in session so that might explain it.

There is one point of the evening in which you'll be grateful that you weren't there to experience. I'll copy the description from an email I just sent to the Troubadour kids and you can decide for yourself.

The opening band:

Quote:
First, lemme describe the band -- three members (two guys, 1 girl). One guy is a skinnier, very nerdy (read that as "ugly") version of Paul from Maximo Park; the girl is wearing silver Russian whore sequins that when she provides her back to the audience, reveals a deep plunging back exposing the top of her buttcrack; and then there's the lead singer, looking like a transvestite reject, he's got really bad long hair that's shaped into some sort of Human League style, the very low riding, extremely tight pants revealing his erection (or very large penis) with the form-fitting shirt being held together by large safety pins added to this ...*cough*...stunning visual.

And then the ..uhm..."music" began. Our tranny reject sang in a falsetto voice. The sound emanating from his body would've incited the animals in the Serengeti to stampede for the hills in horror! Diane, Joulene, Cheryl, Marvin and I just looked at each other with wide eyes and mouths agape -- wha' da fuck?! It was absolutely horrific! No one clapped. We all wondered what evil wrongs we had done in our lives to deserve such punishment.

So, if you ever see a band with the word "mannequins" listed in its name...RUN!! RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN!

They're from San Francisco. I think they need to be banished to some desert community with a small population.

I know she's been associated with some famous, powerful, albeit ugly man...but doing a search, it appears she's eligible and happily un-beau-ed.
