Can't count out a good team like the Cardinals just yet. They didn't win 100 games by accident.

Yeah, between this and the USC-ND game, I'm coming out on the ass end of some classic tilts here of late. It's been historic and exciting, but even moreso depressing. I'm starting to think the Astros are cursed from ever reaching the World Series. I certainly don't think they'll win either game at Busch...not after being one strike away, up two runs with the bases empty. They won't recover from that massive head wound left by Puto, I mean, Pujols.

Puto, such a variable word in Spanish... Fucker or faggot, Pujols is not being complimented in the above.

Hey FT, it is going to get even worse for you this weekend when my Seahawks beat your Cowboys. :)

I became physically ill. I'm still feeling that wretched churning this morning. Please, Oswalt.

Why they're even pitching to Pujols in that scenaro is beyond me.

The 'Stros were my handpicked team to root for in the playoffs...if they can't win one at Busch I'm gonna care very little about the Series.

Well, pick your poison. Do you pitch to Pujols there, where it takes a home run to beat you, he's 0 for 4 and Lidge had previously owned him? Or, do you put the tying run in scoring position by walking Pujols and pitching to a guy that's already proven that he can get it done and could tie the game with a simple single. Even though it didn't work out, I probably would've done the same thing. The problem stemmed from him not just pounding Eckstein with fastballs. You completely blow him away with two heaters and then speed up his bat by throwing him a slider that he seeing-eye dribbles through the six hole.

That home run was, simply put, sick.

Anyone else get the feeling that Pujols singlehandedly turned the entire series around? I reckon the Cards will win this series in seven.

That is a Donnie Moore-like killer. I'd be real impressed if Houston can find a way to win one more.

You make a good point.

Gawd...they were one strike away...

Actually, I think he's right. With the shape their O-line is in, and the continued questionable status of key cogs JJones and DAT Nguyen, I fully expect Seattle to win this one. What I can't figure out is why do the Cowboys have to play AT Seattle again this year, after they made the trip there last season. Shouldn't Holmgren & Co. have to come play down here this time?

Yeah, I immediately started thinking it wouldn't be long for Lidge to join Jeff Alm.

I wish I could figure this out as well because our schedule is messed up like that in other areas as well. Would you believe that this will be like the 4th year in a row that we will be playing the Packers AT Lambeau field??

I don't think Houston is done yet. Sure, it was a badass, even movielike blast, but I think the ESPNs & Sports Illustrateds are rushing out to make a story, since that helps them move product.

The Cardinals are still banged up, but the Astros still have some guys with the talent, hunger and experience to get them into the World Series, especially after last year. Pettite got to the Series with the Yankees, Clemens with the Red Sox and Yankees and the Biggio/Bagwell two headed monster have been rooted with the Astros since George HW Bush was president.

That's not to take anything away from the Cardinals, I'm just saying that for all these make-up caked sports pundits on TV & Radio to say that the Astros are just going to curl up and die seems a bit over the top. I ain't buying it.

No kidding. Let no one forget that Oswalt beat the Cards at home in Game 2. He didn't show much weakness then. In fact, he looked pretty bad ass.

I agree...I still think the 'Stros win this series.

But the Series? I dunno...much as I hate to say it, the Sox are playing really, really well right now - AND they've had some rest time.

'Stros will win it over the Cards.....TONIGHT. Oswalt is a machine and is gonna put the hurt on. I think the Poo-Holes ball that is still rolling down Crawford Street was not a fatal blow, but mere motivation to close this thing out tonight.

As for the Series, I'm undecided. The Sox are playing bad ass, do have a lot of rest going into it, but I'm going to be pretty content with my 'Stros just making it to the big event. I don't foresee a blowout by any means.

Yep...if Houston gets in, I can totally see the Series going 7.

For fans of pitching & "playing the game right" it's gonna be Heaven.
