I'm not nervous at all, but everyone else is acting like I should be. I guess I should be. This is the first interview I've had in a long while and I've been unemployed for going on five months now.

Well, two hours to go.

Nothing to be nervous about -- there's nothing to loose and everything to gain.
Good luck.

Good luck...yesterday was my Unemployment 8th Month Anniversary. If something doesn't happen soon the Inevitable Homicidal Rampage I've joked about for years will be frighteningly close to becoming reality.

When they open up the interview for your questions, ask what their favorite Air Bud movie is.

It is a music/dvd store. Perhaps my extensive knowledge of horrible series of kids movies will come in handy.

I bet most people don't know that there were five Beethoven movies and eleven Land Before Times.

Or that Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley starred in the Fred Savage / Super Mario Bros. 3 classic The Wizard.

Pop quiz: how many Leprechaun movies were there? Which one(s) sucked?

You gonna get your knees rebuilt and stomach tucked like Jill Clayburgh on Nip/Tuck? Then go nuts when you don't get the job?

6 total, including "back 2 da hood"...

Leprechan 1,2,3 are alright...
Leprechan 4 (in space) I haven't seen yet...
Leprechan in the hood is AMAZING...
Leprechan: Back 2 da hood (#6) is awful...

Ranked in order:

Leprechan in the hood, Leprechan, Leprechan 3, Leprechan 2, Leprechan: Back 2 da hood...

with an abstain for "in space", though I suspect it will nestle nicely between leprechan & leprechan 3 if only for the "pee scene"..

Woo, I got it. Sure it's only temp. But there's always a chance of getting part-time after and I still have the other interview to hear from. I've been unemployed for five months so I'll take what I can get.

I was fired from the only indie record store in this city so the chains are my last hope.

I was accused of theft. A $20 bill went missing and I couldn't explain what happened to it. So that's apparently cause enough.

It's like, come on. If I was really going to steal, give me some credit. If I'm getting fired, I'd just as soon take 80 as I would 20. Or I could have just taken home any dvd box set and keep that. One of the multiple copies of the Futurama season sets we had, for instance. They sold for $30 each and nobody would know because they would have written it off as being misplaced.

Are you speaking from experience or is this one of theose hypothetical situations that your 'friend' was involved in?

Congrats on getting the job. I just accepted one this AM myself. Nothing I'm excited about or anything, but like you said "At this point I'll take anything" .

I went to several interviews before I gave up and went back to school. It was humiliating. I'm happy for you. I know it sucks.

I'm probably not going to give in and go to college until next fall. I'm thinking of taking some marketing or entrepreneurial class. Just cause I could use that to open a business of my own, or to become a tool for the corporation. Either way.

Both are good, marketable, useful fields. I know of an entrep. student (mba) who got hired by an established co. to help them find investment ideas. He goes out out and finds the new ideas, evaluates feasibility, etc. Just make sure the programs you look at have good placement rates / starting salaries. Otherwise, same boat as now but with shiny new debt.
