Someone mentioned this book along time ago in the CMJ boards. Anyways, it dosen't come out in America until February next year, and this pisses me off something fierce. Just wanted to bitch about that.

You can get it from Amazon UK for a fairly reasonable price including shipping. That's what I did. I've also seen copies of it at Tower.

Also I remember rumors that the American version would be somewhat shorter.

The US version is shorter. I forget the exact break down but I think it's missing 1 or 2 chapters & 2 other chapters get shorten into 1.

I picked up the UK version at Tower

I just ordered this through Amazon UK, I should be receiving soon. It was about $23 or so (including shipping).

Four chapters are missing--"Outside of Everything" (on Magazine and Subway Sect); "The Blasting Concept" (on SST); "Conform to Deform" (on Some Bizzare and Second-Wave Industrial); one other as yet to be confirmed. Two other chapters have been compressed into one: the Goth and Glory Boys (Echo, Teardrops, U2 etc) chapters, a merger that actually worked rather nicelyl. Another significant difference: the chapter on Mutant Disco era New York is an oral history in the UK edition, but it's a proper written-up chapter in the US Rip It Up."

I've heard people complain the book was to UK-centric but that wouldn't explain why the SST chapter is dropped in the US edition.
