The Mollusk or Chocolate & Cheese are probably the easiest to appreciate, though it's hard not to suggest the rampant headphone skullfuckery of The Pod. Shit, it's hard, because every one of their albums reflects a prety different moood for me.

go with the mollusk.

Chocolate and Cheese was it for me, and it is awesome, but you ain't going wrong with The Mollusk either. I used to annoy the SHIT outta Busty, Bloor et al by screaming the "AY-Yi-Ay" part of "The Blarney Stone" whilst drunk.

Neither of these albums will dissapoint.

what loog and cotton said.

Choclate and Cheese was my first, but the Mollusk would be a better intro imo.

Ween is my favorite band that hasn't broken up yet, meaning that's still around today.

Chocolate and Cheese has some good songs on it, but overall it's probably my least favorite album of theirs. It's probably not a bad place to start, but many of their other albums are of better quality.

I'd say start with GodWeenSatan and The Mollusk at the same time. Ween's early and later period are DRASTICALLY different, and these albums will give you a good sense of both. Many people who only hear one side of them don't appreciate them as much as they might otherwise.

Whatever you listen to, be sure to post your thoughts. Just don't start with Quebec.

I sing to this in my car all the time. Alone, obviously.

I listened to Shinola 900 times today. I'm pulling out my Ween cds to prepare for Thursday. 8)

Mc, if you need anything by these guys, hit me up.

I'd go Choco and Cheese for starters.

Don't listen to Blue Milk. Early Ween is great as long as you still do lots of nitrous and bong tokes----shit when I did I LOVED THOSE ALBUMS.

not so much now. The Country album and White Pepper are aces as well.

featured on my latest mix available for downloadin the other section.

I'm so pissed they're not coming around here until the new year. Probably one of the most consistently entertaining bands to see live of all time.

I love GodWeenSatan and I've never touched any o' that stuff. I think if you're weird enough to be interested in Ween, you might as well just take the plunge and buy all of them.

For me, however, I have to admit that Quebec got me into Ween. It has a good mixture of "serious Ween" and "weird Ween." "Transdermal Celebration" knocked me on my ass when I first heard it, and the video was ultra cool too. It was pretty quick that I grabbed up all the rest. The Pod is the only one that failed to grab me very quickly, just because it's so beyond merely weird. If any album in Ween's catalog might require drugs to really appreciate, it would be The Pod.

I always laugh when listening to Pollo Asado, and also while listening to Don't Laugh (I Love You), at the end when they start making all of those noises. At first it's not funny at all, and then it ends up being pretty hilarious because it lasts a pretty fucking long time for what sounds like a bunch of rodents getting their toes cut off.

Thanks for ALL the recommendations.
I don't recall ever hearing a note from these guys....lame.

I prolly start out w/Choc&Cheese and maybe a sampling or two. I'm sure I'll want that 'country' record as well.

Despite what anyone tells you, The Pod is their best album. It's probably one of my five favorite albums of all time. I just wouldn't start with it or you might be turned off by them.

I love pretty much everything they've done from Chocolate and Cheese onward. White Pepper is their easiest to digest since it is basically slick studio pop/rock.

Their pre-1994 stuff: GodWeenSatan, The Pod, and Pure Guava have some decent moments...especially the latter record, but aren't the best examples of what they can do.
