Here, where it's almost impossible for ordinary people to own any sort of gun, we have a very high assault and violent crime rate that's equal to, if not higher than the US but a much lower murder rate.

I think this proves that although we do live in a violent society and no legisaltion is going to change that you can reduce the numbers of murders by clamping down on guns.

After all it's much harder to kill someone by stabbing, beating, etc, than it is to shoot them.

Not mine either. I personally refuse to carry anything that can be easily taken from me and used against me (this includes knives and mace/pepper spray). As long as you're going through the proper waiting/approval periods, I've got no problem.

Kill me. Don't critically wound me and leave me as a one-eyed gimp.

As long as you don't have any kids, go for it!

This is my hang-up with guns. There are so many stories of kids getting a hold of their parent's gun and accidentally shooting, sometimes killing, someone else.

I also don't see a reason to carry a concealed weapon around. Maybe if you live in a really rough area or something but I'd still never do it.

Don't really have a strong opinion on the subject but I'm more against it than for it I guess.

What he said exactly.

Especially the kids angle, as a parent you have enough shit to worry about then whether or not your kid comes home alive from an innocent playdate because the parents own a gun you don't know about. And you shouldn't HAVE to ask everybody if they do.

I don't get the necessity for one.

As someone above stated, more kids drown than die from accidental gun shootings. I also feel about this like I feel about sex ed: when you don't teach kids how babies happen, and then bemoan your kid getting pregnant: YOUR FAULT.

teach your kids about guns, and that should only be used in adult supervision, etc....

Cracked's dog was kicked once by a guy that smelled like marijuana.

i have so many driving laws that should be punishable by death, but first and foremost, the fuckers who ignore merge/left lane ends signs until the lanes have already meged and then get all pissy when people won't let them in.

Oh now you hate on the Sk8ters...What have they ever done to you....

This is a good topic becasue I'm actually in the process of selling 3 of my dad's guns I've had in the back of my closet since he passed away...

1-.22
1-Shotgun
1-Rifle

I have no need for them, he was a hunter..I'm not..As for protection I'll either stab somebody who breaks in my house or run...I'm pretty fast..

Though shooting up shit is lots of fun, specific familial circumstances make me reticent to own shooty type of weaponry.

I agree. No gun for me.

I don't really lock my house, but I have a 3ft machete next to my bed. I figure I have been playing light saber since I was eight and can do more damage to the assailant with the blade than I could a barndoor with a gun.

Too easy to kill or be killed. Take my shit if you want it.
Home invasion fears don't occur to me as I'm not dealing meth or pimpin'. I prefer to live in a place where a gun is not required for daily survival.

You raise a good point. I have found, in general, that the vocal opponents of guns, capital punishment, strict law enforcement, etc. are those who have never experienced violent crime.

When I got mugged, I wanted the cops to blast the little bastards to hell, then break down the door of the crack den where they tried to hide and blast everyone in there.

I think my brother in law has a few guns but he hunts and volunteers for the police dept. or something. When I was in the military, one of my roommates had a 9mm. I got to fire it once.

I don't think I'd buy a gun, mostly because I'm pretty irresponsible.

Damn! I was out all day actually trying to make money and I missed THIS?

Personally I wish that handguns/automatic weapons weren't a part of our culture, but unfortunately they are and even a ban on them won't stop both good and bad people from owning them. I believe the horse has left the barn on this one. Enforcing gun laws would be about as pointless as attempting to enforce drug laws. You can take down the bad people but plenty of good people will always want to own a gun and/or inhale various drugs.

I became famaliar with guns at a pretty young age, both legitimately (earning my rifle&shotgun merit badge in boy scouts, some rudimentary instruction from my pops and big bro) and less legitimately (stealing my dads guns while my parents at work and shooting shit up in the woods---yeah, the kind of shit were people can end up dead but since we didnt have a pool, I managed to live)

Not really an issue I think much about, but if you got any ideas on taking down Redlands----squash them now. Don't even try it. Image
