yeah, it's gotten to the point where "Grammy" or "Oscar" winning is more of a dismissal than anything else.

Yeah it's pretty awful. Lets hope Kanye sweeps his nominations, and then everyone else can fuck off.

I'm sure Tweedy is real happy about the noms this year. hehe

Two yrs ago after the nominations came out I saw him at the Vic do a solo show and he kept making jokes about the lack of nominations for YHF.

Sorry Yail... I'd have to say that's pretty terrible besides the 'float on' nomination.

I've never understood the Grammys. Thousand of choices and they invariable pick lame stuff, even when it's lame stuff no one heard. Stevie Wonder doing Moon River. Yeah. Okay. Even Stevie's rolling his non-functioning eyes at that. Ray Charles' album is the least interesting of his I've ever heard.

Joanna Newsom didn't even make it to "best contemporary folk." At least Tom Waits got a nod, but that's only because he entered "old fart we're supposed to acknowledge" territory.

Oh man, I can actually tolerate their songs on the radio, please let it be that band Los Lonely Boys because I think they sound like constipated dogs in that song Heaven. I want them to win and then go away-quickly. Suffer the cruel fate.

And Yail & Spence, I actually find the Alternative Album category pretty good. This years noms that is.

I mean come on, yeah the Grammy's have been sucking for the best 15 years, but every now and then they do get it right and nominate some deserving albums. I mean it's not like we can ever expect much from them can we? But they did at least do a good job this year and nominate those albums.

I actually like all those artists except Wilson, but "best" is not applicable. Not hardly.

Why won't anyone give me an award?
You won a Grammy.

The Oscars are still respectable IMO. For a lot of catergories you have to be involved in that field to vote, so only experts are deciding the fate. For Grammys everyone votes for everything & it shows *cough*PuffybeatingWutang*cough*.

Is this Prince song a cover of the old Neil Young song? I've never heard this.

edit: OH, and I hope if John Mayer wins, his huge melon of a head explodes onstage.
