I've recently had the idea to buy and frame my five favorite albums. They would be:

I had posted a similar thread at Rave Recs last week and my album frames shipped Tuesday. I went with these: http://www.rockartpictureshow.com/index.html

But I seriously considered these that Stone mentioned he bought: http://www.signals.com/signals/Item_The ... s_srm.html

The only other one I saw that looked decent was here: http://www.americanframe.com/catalog/sp ... VQOT14EDEC

Just thought I'd throw them out if anyone else had interest.

I'm going to be rotating but since I've not bought LPs for years, my inventory isn't very current. To start I'm going with:

Ramones -Subteranean Jungle
Clash - London Calling
The Muffs - Blonder and Blonder
Wall Of Voodoo - EP
Kiss - Rock And Roll Over (first album I ever bought- 3'rd grade)
Alan Parsons Project - I Robot (first time I realized someone other than Kiss made great music!)

I'm kinda getting into this and think I may actually buy a decent turntable. There's a Music Hall mm5 on audiogon for 450 that I've been eye'n.

Have fun,
jc

That's a good album and all and I know you're a huge stones fan but would you really want to hang a picture of a dude's bulge on your wall?

Not me. I'd consider Let It Bleed though.

Yeah, real album covers with real albums inside. Which makes rarities including some Brazilian albums I'd probably otherwise pick a little too pricey

Gets you the Warhol aspect as well, and if you get one witha working zipper, I think it'd be cool.

I would much rather have that Between the Buttons, or even this:

[img][650:472]http://artedelnastrone.clarence.com/archive/images/sticky_inside.jpg[/img]

or both and then one with ronnie for all of the eras?

I'm still hoping to stumble onto one of those thrift store finds that I read about all the time. I'd really like to steal a 500 tt for about 10 bucks!

Thanks for posting that. Pretty cool. Don't know that I'd really want to go to see the exhibit but I like that they are recognizing the art and think I'll do a similar 5 X 5 layout on my wall.

I won the Harder they come ost on ebay and am going to order the Eugene Mcdaniels, Gil Scott heron, and Donny Hathaway later today.

The smiths album has a large light blue border around it though and the gp doesn't have the japanese slipcard. Will probably get 3 more.

Not all the pix load for me, but has anybody mentioned Marquee Moon? I like the Horses cover but what's so great about that other Mapplethorpe cover at 'Long Playing'?

'Ramones' is superior to Rocket To russia i think too

The New York Dolls second album cover is fantastic IMO, better than the self titled.

Stooges/Iggy, you got self titled, Funhouse, Raw Power, The Idiot, Lust For Life...

'The Modern Dance'

'On The Beach' is cool

And, if they meet your liking of the album, how about Pet Shop Boys 'Actually'? Awesome cover.

Never understood the appeal of Never Mind The Bollocks... as album art.

IT SUCKS!

I don't think It sucks but neither is it a beautiful work. For me the appeal is it the memories and feelings it conjures up. I don't know how old you are but I'm older than most here and can remember the first time I saw it in the store as a kid before ever hearing the album. The bright colors and the mere name Sex Pistols stuck out like a sore thumb next to the leo sayer and styx albums nearby probably as much as the music did once you heard it.

I'm not picking these purely for artistic value. The album has to mean something to me first and foremost and then its got to be an image that I know I'm not going tire of seeing. Ramones first album might be a better cover and it might be a more important album, I like rocket to russia better and played that f'er to death in high school. Brings back memories.

These are two I have that I've thought about framing. I'd have to look through my records to see what all I have, but offhand I'd consider the following (if it wasn't for the fact that I occasionally would want to listen to them):
