Back and recovering today.
First things first; Colin/Chuck D and his wife are among the best people on the planet and I'm grateful to have met them while in town. Met Colin first on Saturday when he invited me to a Halloween party thrown by a fellow UT biology dork. Lots of fun and we did a respectable job of being social while still dishing on Obner a fair amount. Lots of fun and pics will follow soon.
Met them again at the Calexico/Iron and Wine show on Sunday and then had dinner on Monday night. Good times all the way around, or at least they did an impressive job of acting amused by me. Either way, thanks to both for being so hospitable. The Austin Visitors Bureau owes the two of you a commission of some sort.
After one hour in town I knew I'd made the right choice in planning to move there. I think Austin is a perfect city and can't wait to make it my new homebase. Didn't do as much job looking as planned but I've got a couple leads that I'll work in the near future. I know it's aggressive, but my goal is to be there by mid-March for SXSW.
And don't worry, T. I didn't do much damage, so the field is wide open for you. I figured if I'm going to inhabit the place ti probably ain't advisable to lay waste to it on my second visit. After a year, the gloves come off.
