it gets easier as you meet more people. pretend that i'm a bounty hunter lobbyist and that you're courting the VA Bounty Hunter's association's support.

ha, funny, I think I was at the same beer fest a day off from you guys. And I think, if I remember correctly, that rparis and I once breathed the same air at a Jesse Malin concert. That rparis... he's a sly one.

Nope didn't get to go to the actual show, but if you remember I was at Anderson's house with you guys beforehand trying desperately to get a hold of the tickets through my brother's ticket broker friend. Then I drank a little more and went to a party and drank more there. ANd well, that last sentence had nothing to do with the rest.

I do remember being at the Ryan Adam's show at The Vic though a couple months later and you were there and I ran into a couple other CMJ boarders that I knew but you guys didn't and I think it was Aaron who may have referred to me that night jokingly as the Chicago CMJ ambassador or something like that cause I kept intro'ing everyone in chicago to each other at that time.

I do remember that now, I couldn't remember who went and who couldn't since I didn't really know anyone but Aaron. I haven't seen Ryan Adams live, so you can't be thinking of me for that show but I did go up to see Jeff Tweedy around that time so maybe you mean him instead of Ryan Adams? Anyway, that's the night I (and Aaron) met Katie as well. Ah, the memories...

I found CMJ around 2000-01 because I was looking for new album reviews. I started checking out the board because most of my friends at the time weren't as obsessed with music as I was and it was a great outlet.

I learned about so many great bands because of it and Obner..

Never met anyone from the board either, but next year I'm going to ATL for a week long conference so I figure on meeting up with some of the quiet and demure gents from the area for some mint juleps.

Yup yup, Tweedy. Sorry, for some reason I got them confused this morning. haha

Yes yes, that night WAS the night Haq and Katie met for the first time. And we all met her too. I remember us standing on the corner and her coming across the street and asking "is one of you Aaron"...aww love at first sight.

So Rick Derris inadvertently ruined the board?

albion is another guy that we introduced to the board. Also a dude called Pork Chop but he doesnt ever post.

Outside of people I already knew, I've met Drinky Crow, Tiny E, and of course, discostu.

And yes, I was totally not down with posting on a music related message board and I still think that it is pretty ghey, but you guys have turned me on to some really cool music and I've already got like 4600 posts, so I suppose that I'll stick around. Plus obner is the best way to kill time at work that I have EVER encountered.

Be undercover as a traveling band, I say.

I could do Austin, went to school at SWT (or whateveritscallednow) and lived in Austin for the decade it took for my undergrad. I'ma begin to plan that one.
