Well, what did you buy, and did you go out of your way not to buy anything on any of Sony's labels?

Haven't bought anything yet. Still going over the list. Lots of good stuff tho!
I'll let y'all know when I do.

Off the top of my head, here are my recommended five since 1990:

1. Spoon - A Series of Sneaks
2. Pedro The Lion - Control
3. Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
4. Ted Leo/Pharmacists - The Tyranny of Distance
5. Beulah - Yoko

I don’t think any of these were mentioned, five+five and I think they are must owns:

UK

Boo Radleys – Giant Steps 1993 This is a double album similar to the White Album, as it throws a bunch of things together and has some blazing guitar.
Blur – Parklife 1993 A very British album that they haven’t been able to top yet.
Muse – Origin Of Symmetry 2001 For your heavier side.
Verve – Urban Hymns 1997 Though I might like the one before better, this one is a classic and perfect for road trips.
Super Furry Animals – Guerrilla 1999 Just about the best band from the last 10 years and every album is different.

USA

Mercury Rev – Deserter’s Songs 1998 Some psychedelic music that makes me stomp my feet.
…Trail Of Dead – Source Tags & Codes 2002
Beck - Odelay 1996
My Morning Jacket – It Still Moves 2003
Mazzy Star – So Tonight I Might See 1993 HOPE!

Sorry, I ran out of time for some more one-liners.
