I drank coffee to stay awake and get used to getting up early during my internship, but after 3 or 4 weeks, I didn't need it anymore. So I stopped drinking it. Basically, coffee has nothing on me. WHAT.

hmm, I would recommend Schondecken's in my little neighborhood, but since you don't live in Portland, it probably wouldn't help you much.

I definitely would not recommend Seattle's Best. If that's the best Seattle can offer, I feel very, very sorry for them.

Darrin, it's like red wine was for me. For years, I absolutely hated it. But it's an acquired taste, and as long as you're not drinking crappy coffee, it's pretty good.

I'm a BIG fan of Peets. I had to stop drinking the real stuff about a year ago (anxiety, heart palpitations - woo!) but their decaf tastes just as good. Even though it doesn't give me the physical kick any more, I still psychologically need to start my day with a good cup of coffee. We buy a bag of regular & a bag of decaf, so if my husband's the only one drinking it he can make full strength, and if it's both of us we'll make it a quarter caf. Yummy.

When I worked at a PR company in DC, I would start my day with a latte like thingy from Au Bon Pain or a red eye from Starbucks (both of which were before the elevator to my floor) then I would read and clip papers for about an hour, the drink a full normal sized coffee cup full of espresso from the little machine we had in the cantine. Many were shocked and disgusted, I mainly just drank it because it tastes good. Now, I rarely drink coffee unless I need to drive all night or need something for a hangover/still drunk episode at work. I can take it or leave it.

Ben -- I used to think you were a fairly discenring individual, but Dunkin Donuts has bad donuts and even worse coffee. So, So terrible. Ugh.

I am drinking some kind of concoction from Gevalia as I type, basically because its there, and I am bored.

I quit the coffee a long time ago. Have substituted it with Hot Chocolate in the winter. Now I'm a big fat ass. Go figure.

Speaking as a true caffeine whore, i'd eat a child if you promised me it was filled with coffee. that said, i really only recommend Dunkin' donuts' brand. It tastes great, it's loaded with cream (no matter what you actually tell them to put in it) and it can come in cups large enough to crawl into once you start bouncing off the walls. Stay the hell away from starbucks. it's hella expensive, it's trendy, and IMO the stuff is too bitter.

If you're gonna make, and i highly recommend this because i've saved a ton of money by doing this, you can get beans by DD, and i also like a company called Gimme coffee. if grinding is not for you, go with Chock Full O' Nuts grounds. good luck

i don't really care for the caffeine so much as the taste. i just love coffee...all kinds. my morning's start off with an espresso drink of some sort, then i move onto drip, and if i'm slowing up, i might have a mocha from xyz coffee shop later in the day.

love, love, love coffee. if i had the gumption, i'd do what chuck d's about to do. esp. the power strip. that's so hott.
