I was just offered a new job, and thus have to give two weeks notice to my current boss. Should I put it in writing or just go tell her in person? I've never had to quit a "real" job before...

in person.
it's nicer and you'll have to talk about it eventually.
this will make it less awkward.

and congratulations.

Yeah, if it's a job you will put on a resume later you should always have it in writing. And keep a copy in your files.

Thanks, you guys rock.

Its a lateral move,so no big pay raise... but I think it will be much more satisfying in the long run.

Just stop coming to work. In two weeks, they'll notice and realize that you aren't coming back.

Woooo! The legendary two week notice! Does that really happen?

The last time I actually quit a job for another position rather than quit a job because I was no longer in school. I just told my supervisor and gave him my keys. We weren't really busy with work and it was pretty obvious that we should all be looking for new jobs. If I get a new job soon like I would like to, I will probably not give two weeks or any sort of real notice. My main boss continues to screw us over, and it is not like there aren't people who can't handle the job without me. If my move is to a similar paying position or back to school for some reason, then I might suck it up and give proper notice.
