Wow, I purposely put off hearing this so I could buy it today, but while I was sitting around before going out to the store, I decided to listen to a couple tracks on it, and ended up downloading the whole album.

To be honest, it kind of sucks. If I had spent $15 on it I would have been so pissed off with myself right now, because there are several other releases coming up that I also want to buy.

I'll take the $15 I saved myself today and put it towards the Deerhoof/Danger Doom albums next week, which should actually be worth my money.

This album is disappointing. Except for the single, I couldn't get into any of the songs.

I've listened to it a couple of times at work.

At first I was really into the first track.... but it wore off pretty quickly and became nauseating on further listens.

The rest of the record sound alright. It's definitely a new direction for them. Let's just say that if you're in the mood it's a great electro-goth record, otherwise it's kinda dumb.

The way I see it, it could sound good if it were mixed into a set with the following records:

Annie - Anniemal
Goldfrapp (new one)
Broadcast (new one)
Mylene Farmer (ick)

pitchfork liked it (8+) so it HAS to be good! (for $2.99, i'll risk it on emusic.)

save the $2.99 for coffee and a donut. much more worthwhile.

Actually, I love electro-goth, so this makes it actually sound appealing.

My description of it as "electro-goth" and RIYLs weren't meant as put-downs about the album.

I love the new Broadcast. And actually think the Annie & Goldfrapp records are kind of fun... I was just being descriptive.
