Once again, I am in the minority of things I like. I found humor in "My Name Is Earl." And I'm certainly going to try and follow it for as long as it lasts. It reminded - in small doses mind you - me of a lot of quirky yet mainstream shows from the past, like Ed, Moonlighting, Buffalo Bill, Newhart, Arrested Development, The Adventures of Pete And Pete, and even my all-time favorite, Northern Exposure.

But then again, I must admit, I do not watch network television anymore. Its not like I have bravely given it up... I just got too bored. If a show on one of the big three ... or the little three can amuse me for a spell, colour me impressed enough to give it four or five episodes. Will it cure cancer? Nah. Will it keep Jason Lee employed, and me occasionally smirking? Yeah, probably.

Northern Exposure was awesome.

The premiere of Earl was a heaping pile. I'll give it another shot, but I found this episode to be totally unimaginative.

HE'S A HICK AND HE HAS TO GO TO A GAY BAR. HAR HAR.

The gay character is the star of a series of Del Taco commercials in the L.A. market.

And was that black guy in Earl's ex-wife's car the guy in the print OfficeMax ads?

I only saw the last 10 minutes. If this is one of the better reviewed new series, that is not a good sign. I don't expect the characters to talk as fast as the Gilmore Girls, but the slow line delivery was a little too slow for me.

And I read Kolchak is nothing like the 70's Kolchak show and it sucks.

I'm watching it right now and am not entertained, I'm just not seeing the humour here. I watched last week too. This will be the last.

It was alright. The lead actor has nowhere near the charm of Darren McGavin and the show just seems kind of like a poor man's X-Files.

I loved the first one, was amused by the second one, and was kinda bored by tonight's episode. I'll still watch next week, though.

I've liked the first 2, & tonite's is on tape waiting to be watched.

They upped the episode order to a full season, BTW.

It's pretty funny most of the time, and has the potential to improve even more. Plus, the chick who plays the hotel maid/third wheel is SMOKIN' hot!!!

I just saw in the paper this morning that NBC has ordered a second season of this show.

I've watched it a couple times and it's mildly entertaining but most of it falls pretty flat and just isn't very funny.

The Office is turning out pretty good this season though. The office Olympics last night were cool.

It's trying really hard and it seems to have all the right influences (especially the Raising Arizona connection), but there is a real disconnect somewhere. I think humor like that lives and dies on the weird little details (think Arrested Development), and this show already seems to be squeezing those out for a more broad outcome.

At least it's not standard studio dreck like "The War at Home." But it is no "Northern Exposure" or "The Office."

By the way, what a horrible slot. It's on after some fat people reality show - really lame horseshit by the looks of the last few minutes. Doesn't seem like the same demographic.

This shit is funny. When that dude tackled the paperboy for knocking over his beer, the look on their faces was awesome.

I like it. It's no Scrubs or Arrested Development, but I appreciate the fresh redneck angle to comedy, as opposed to reality tv, the family sitcoms with the fat loser guy and the hot wife, and the crime dramas.

I have to think this is one of the funniest shows on tv. Tonight's ep was just too hilarious.

Plus, tonight they mentioned the town I currently reside in--Hagerstown. Rock! This burg is on the move!

I've watched every episode. I like it, it isn't laugh out loud funny like AD or Scrubs, but it's amusing and gets some giggles.

I dig it too but resent it at the same time as it as stolen a timeslot fro my precious Scrubs. Damn you, Earl!

Yeah, Scrubs is still way better, but last night's episode of Earl was probably the best one yet. Especially when Darlene from Roseanne's boyfriend tried the Say Anything bit with the flaming golf clubs. And Smokey and the Bandit humor never gets old, either. Thumbs up.
