She's still at work cuz she has to go to San Diego tomorrow and doesn't have enough time in a day to get everything done.

Yes, I'm venting.

Only got 3 hours of sleep last night. Something about emergency rooms and a parent needing an MRI. Almost seven hours later, she finally gets to see a doctor. No, wait, not a doctor, but a nurse who'll tell us he doesn't know when the doctor will be available. (SEVEN HOURS LATER?) It's now after midnight and I've had a long day. I need sleep, so I get sent home after 1am -- "we'll call you when your mom is ready". Gotta feed my animals, get my stuff ready for work the next day. Finally, close to 2am, my lovely down comforter envelops me while I sleep deeply.

RING RING...RING RING!

"Hello?"
"Your mom is ready, come pick her up." It's fuckin' 5am.

Meetings all day. Boss is out on maternity leave. "You're doing a great job, but we need to schedule you for MORE client meetings." "Oh, by the way, we hired someone new, would you mind if she tags along and learns your departmental process? Yes, we know you're already training an assistant."

I wanted this job, didn't I? I interviewed for it, fretted at the competition and thought someone else would be hired. But, nope...I was the lucky one, they chose me. Dude, this shit is tough. Not only do I have over 200 employees to hire, bring onboard 8-12 new clients, I have to oversee a new HRIS conversion and the people assigned to it.

Everything's ready for tomorrow's meeting. Lovely La Jolla, here I come. The Dears' gig tomorrow night might be a struggle if I don't get enough sleep tonight.

I've bitched more than I should have. Sorry. Someone...anyone...have many drinks for me. Please.

yea, but you get more money, and you get to travel which gets you paid meals too, right? Sounds like a double bonus.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a raise when I switched jobs -- it was considered a 'lateral' move. I lost my managerial status but was kept at a manager's salary. Fine by me. After this gig is over with (ie, when my boss returns from maternity leave), I'm hoping that I get promoted. In fact, that's what my boss is grooming me for.

Basically, all this work I'm doing is somewhat of a test. It'll either make me or break me. I'll definitely make it...even if I have to work long late hours to get there.

It's 9pm, I'm done. Time for me to go home.

Btw, you guys are truly aces. Image

I wouldn't work a single minute of overtime. I've got better things to do with my life.

In at 8.45am out at 4.45pm. That's it. No staying back late, no in on Saturday's, nothing else. Not a second.

Careers are one of the biggest cons in history. Especially bullshit office careers.

you should make your assistant feed your animals and do all the little things you don't have time for. That's what they are there for!
Anyways, hope things get better.

T- I know what will cheer you up immensely. Who are we going to see on Thursday??

That's right, MUSE!

You just a little Muse in your life, and this week will end with a bang. Not to mention a beer or two at the gig.

Strikes and gutters, babe. You'll be alright. I hope your mom is OK, too.

And we're all sending our Ob karma your way in this difficult time. Let us know when you need some more.
You've always been there for us and we'll repay gladly.

Be well.
:)

I'm sorry to hear about your day... we all have 'em, and it's okay to vent.

Hey, at least you didn't spend money to see the new Bridget Jones movie like I did last night, so count yourself lucky! (although a little Colin Firth might have made ya feel better)

I can totally empathize with you, Tania. Monday was the single worst workday I've ever had. When I got home that night, I told my wife I would have quit if we didn't have kids. It was that bad. Yesterday was less bad. Today's actually pretty good.

Hang in there, T. As the very wise Howard Jones once sang, "Things can only get better."
